The comments on Sam's age frustrate me so much. He is not even old! And even if he were, why do we shame people for that? Nobody stays in their teens/20s forever. And it's not a bad thing. Look at Eric, Jennifer Ehle, and William Fichtner. They are all older, and they all still have plenty of sex appeal and talent. And from a show point of view, I feel like people generally visibly age less between their 30s and 40s than they do between their 20s and 30s, so having actors start in their 30s can actually help with the believability in the long run. Most importantly, Sam, Jacob, and the other actors have all worked their asses off and given incredible performances, so who gives a shit if they are older than their book counterparts?
Exactly.
Also, some of what is going to come up? You just neeeeed the acting props for that. Our cast has that.
This is not to say that no young actor could also have those.
But Rolin chose Sam and Jacob and Assad and Eric etc because of their acting and chemistry.
We make believe that they are vampires, for heaven's sake.
What does it matter, that they're a bit older than initially written as. The important things are what they can do with those characters.
And totally aside from that - and that is the most important part, actually - but they also are all gorgeous.
We are soooooo lucky, and honestly?
People picking these kind of criticisms? Means they know they don't have anything else to whine about.
