That burning desire to succeed. That passion. That explosion, wanting to help and be helped. That day... when the walls combust feeding on the oxygen, connecting with eternity.
@15:48 “This Beautiful Life”
What in the world are we doing here? What is the meaning of it all? To fall in love, to make a life that’s calm and stable Or just to find a place where I belong?
What in the world am I looking for? What is the peace that I can find? This longing for, I can’t ignore but am I able To see the good and taste it on my tongue?
[Chorus] All that I know All that I see All that I feel Inside of me All that I’ve done All that I’ve tried There must be more To this beautiful life
Well I go to water to find innocence Breathe deep the air to fill my lungs And beauty sings his songs to me Every note I follow to find out where The voice is coming from
[Chorus]
And I can’t be satisfied This well has long been dry What does it cost to find a home For what’s been lost?
Well maybe I’m a part of something that’s bigger than me Like I’m a page in a book in a library And inside my heart there’s a dying part that’s always searching ‘Cause I know that there’s a place where I belong
All that I know All that I see All that I feel Inside of me All that I’ve done All that I’ve tried There must be more To this wonderful Terrible Beautiful Life
*10 songs*
@h3rblkw1ngs and @betterneko both tagged me to do the “10 songs you’ve been listening to lately” music thing. Eighty years later....
I’ve been sick and work/life was real shitty (we had a blizzard) and I hadn’t been listening to much anyway. But now I finally feel up to it! So thanks for tagging me and reading my tale of woe~
I wrote a little bit about some of the songs to make up for the delay. :)
1. Tom Healey Band: Sick and Tired
Tom Healey was a friend of my mom and taught at my high school. Sadly he passed away a couple years ago. I lost a CD wallet that had my copy of this album in college. Something my roomie said to me reminded me of this song so I just thought to check if it was available digitally.
“I’m sick and tired... of being sick aaAAAAAaand tired.”
2. Parkinglotgrass: Rain Man
The last issue of Metal Hammer I got had an article about metal/hard rock bands in Africa. These guys from Kenya are fucking great.
“What is this mortal life Than what we give and what we take? There must be more to life Than what we design, create, and stake.”
3. The Protomen: Built To Last
My all time favorite 80s influenced nerd rock band. Also the lyrics in this song are kind of... sexy? and I really dig it.
4. Vashti Bunyan: Train Song
The album was released in 1970 and went basically unnoticed, but gained a cult following during the next 30 years. I heard this song in True Detective and fell in love. This cover by Feist and Ben Gibbard is amazing too.
5. Mastodon: Oblivion
@ghulehtela recommended Mastodon’s Crack The Skye to me. :) I’ve been listening to it a lot while I’m at work the last week or so.
6. Lucia Di Lammermoor: Il Dolce Suono (Natalie Dessay, Mad Scenes)
If you’ve seen Fifth Element you’ll recognize the beginning of this. I’m actually a pretty big classical/opera fan. I went to see Rusalka streamed live at the theater a couple weeks ago so I’ve been in a bit of an opera mood since.
7. Niels Nielsen: En stund till
It’s so soothing.
8. Black City Lights: Offering
I think this was originally a ‘weather’ song from WTNV. They’ve had some great songs over the years.
9. Sticklips: Particle Wave
Saw this band open for Amanda Palmer when she released Theatre is Evil. Melancholy and beautiful, and the lyrics are pure poetry.
10. Colony House: Live at WEQX
My local alternative/indie radio station is amazing at supporting up-and-coming bands. I saw Colony House open for The Kongos a couple years ago in the area, and got to see them solo (with a great opening band called Deep Sea Diver) a couple weeks ago.
Ok, now I have absolutely no idea who’s done this lately. Sorry, if you have already ~
