Begonialeaf lay in the den she had once shared with Webstripe. He was probably out trying to woo Aloemist again, but she was still nervous that he would come back and attack her. At her belly were their kittens- newborn, tiny and perfect.
She reached down and groomed the little tom vigorously, stopping when he stopped nursing and clawed blindly at her nose. “You’ll be Tansykit.” She said gently. She chuckled and turned to his sister, grooming her more gently. “And you’ll be Spiderkit.”
She paused when she noticed that her grooming didn’t move the baby’s fur, and a surge of horror wrenched at her gut when she realized what was happening.
“No.. I still have to take care of them!” She yelped, curling around them as if to protect her babies from her fate.
Spiderkit raised her head and sniffed the air. The warm milk-scent was gone, and so was the big warmth. She could feel a small warmth, but where was the big warmth? Did it move away? Where was the milk?” She mewed loudly, hoping that Big Warmth would come back, but there was no such luck, and she was stuck with Small Warmth.
She hoped that Big Warmth would come back soon.
