Jekyll & Hyde
but it's in the modern internet era

JUST SHOW ME WHAT YOU CREATE IF YOU DO
You're leaving work one day with some coworkers, well technically it's the company owners two sons, one of whom is the VP, plus two executives and the boyfriend of one of the execs who works at the company. But you've known this kid since he was an intern and it's not a large company, so you know these men pretty well, well enough to walk with them down the street to a small market with food stalls.
As you're walking, a small group of what looks like university students look at your group, at the two couples, you and your silk shirts and the way you walk and head towards you. You can hear what they call you before they start saying it. You've heard it all before. Two of the men in your group tense, about to move to defend their boyfriends as the group approaches, but before they can, another university student rushes out of no where and yanks on the leader, calling him out on his words and telling him that he can't take his hate of the other out on random office workers. He's handsome in a angry, slightly intimidating kind of way. The first student gets angry, and his friends back off. They seem to know this newcomer and they do not want to fight him. The first student though, he starts swinging. The newcomer doesn't respond as you expect though. He doesn't throw a punch himself, only blocks and dodges and tries to talk down the other. They're on the street, does he want to ruin his future by getting arrested for assault or fighting in public? He needs to stop. The way the newcomer moves, the slight upturn of his mouth, nearly a smirk every time he blocks, you can't take your eyes off him. Finally the one-sided fight turns and the newcomer is near you and the first student charges. Because of the way that the sidewalk and the buildings are and where you all are placed, there's no where to dodge. And he's going to hit either the newcomer or you.
Strong hands grab your hips, firm hands, firm grip, hands that are steady and confident. Those strong hands spin you against a firm, broad chest, for a moment and you're looking into dark eyes, that seem to somehow also burn with a fire you are entranced by. Those steady hands spun both of you out of the path of the first student and then, before you can get your fill of that grip on your hips, those fiery eyes, he's releasing you to grab the wrist of the first student just as his stumble at the end of his charge nearly takes him into the busy street. The newcomer yanks and the first student falls backwards, landing on the ground, safely away from the street. The newcomer crouches in front of the humiliated student. And tells him that he's tried making him feel better after their fights every time that the first student starts them. He doesn't even punch him for all the things he calls him and things he and his friends say about him. But he's about gone too far and the newcomer is out of patience. The first student had bettered leave random passerbys out of this feud or next time he'll learn what happens when the newcomer decides to hit back and why he rarely does. As the first student pulls himself up and away with a glance at the newcomer full of hate, the newcomer has already turned back to you and your group and is apologizing. He's very sorry that the first student caused you trouble and interrupted your day and insulted you. He didn't think he'd go that far or he'd have done something about the student's problem with him earlier. He turns to you and apologizes for touching you, for grabbing you and moving you without permission. Before you can get out much, his phone starts going off, he glances and asks if he can answer. When he does, his voice is fond and gentle, nothing like the firm anger or the tight control that you've heard so far. This is deep and warm and wraps you in warmth and *ideas*. He's talking to another man. At first the disappointment hits, of course he's taken.
But then, it dissipates slightly, after all you don't even know his name. This was just another chance encounter that will be over as fast as any other and he smiles at the phone as he tells the person to gather others and head to the library, he'll meet them there with coffee to study. He apologizes again as he leaves. But you think you see him look back at you before he vanishes into the crowd.
