So hey guys

I wrote a “back of the book” description for my novel. Thoughts? :D

Raya Steadwell has never had many friends. Between her lack of self-esteem and her tendency to fall asleep wherever she was standing as a result of her narcolepsy, she grew up learning to keep to herself. But when she moves to a new town and meets people from her past, she learns her disease stems from the magical powers she inherited from her deceased father, and that the family in power that killed him is now looking for her. Raya must learn to control her powers and trust people when her dad’s best friend goes missing, or the Amarcks will add him--and her--to their list of victims in order to stay in power.

My Mom: I accomplished nothing this week except swim in the pool all day.

Me: I worked on the chapter that I completely obliterated, wrote a freelance piece, caught some Pokemon, got my Tumblr together and starting stalking literary agents and agencies (ahem), and read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire from start to finish.

And swam in the pool all day.

When I Wake

I’m working on the second draft of my first novel, When I Wake. It’s a young adult fantasy novel detailing the journey of a 14-year-old named Raya Steadwell, who finds out why she’s really been falling asleep and hallucinating since she was a young girl when she moves to a small town in Pennsylvania, where she used to live when her father was still alive.

Of course, a lot more happens than that, but as the draft continues and I work on it more, I hope to reveal more here and see if people are liking the premise as I go through the writing and editing process, as well as (hopefully!) the publishing process eventually.

Struggling

That moment when you’re beginning the second draft of your manuscript and cross out an entire chapter to start it from scratch....

It’s a good thing I’m trained in editing. It’s come in handy.
