I am so glad that BB is back on my screen proper for the first time in years but HOLY editing

The fights themselves were really good (Golden Fury hits like a train, HUGE does HUGE things, and Malice continues to be one of the best horizontals going) but the magic that was there in WC7, Golden Bolt, and even in the more recent FaceOffs episodes has just.....gone

They managed to bang through three fights in 21mins, which is an insane pace, and not necessarily for the better. Give it 30 mins, with enough time to give *context* for things that happen (brand new tournament format? Not explained. 1st fully Indian team? Barely acknowledged)

The last FaceOffs episode we had before ProLeague started was some of the best non main season editing we've had since WC7, and it saddens me that they've "MrBeast-ifieid" it, with the breakneck pace, the jump cuts and flashing lights, it's OTT in the wrong way

Hopefully the rest of the fights can carry the rest of the episodes to come, but if this is how they're gonna get 20smth episodes out, then lord help us, maybe they'll do extended cuts for FB supporters but I am Not holding my breath lmao

All in, 6/10 first ep, with the fights doing basically all the heavy lifting

something that bothers me is when people take the fact that oppression is a complicated system where marginalised people are often complicit in the marginalisation of other people (for example, white women historically perpetuated a whole lotta racism) and use that to decide that it’s suddenly not bigoted to make fun of that whole group's marginalisation (like people saying literal incel misogyny shit) like there’s a difference between pointing out the complicity (and oftentimes active participation) of white women in racism and holding accountable those that do so and outright saying blatant misogyny with a “white” label attached like. that’s just being cruel and above all else perpetuating all bigotry. normalising misogyny towards white women will also normalise it against non-white women. and that’s literally only one example (bc i saw people sexually harassing someone with weirdo incel dogpill shit like. implying women are so horny they sexually assault anything with a pulse for Existing is Not something that helps anyone like it was literally just a woman Existing with a dog) I’ve seen it in so many ways. there’s a difference between pointing out and calling out a marginalised person being complicit or actively participating in the marginalisation of another group of people and treating that as an excuse to treat a marginalised group as fair game.

God, I am so sorry!!! that sounds hellish. I watched it with my wife and we screamed and cackled and grinned the whole time, it was such a wonderful satisfying experience. And SO GAY. People really undersold the extent of the queer text to me.
