@soldwrecked's rolf lautmann sent: ❝ you know i’m not good for you right? there’s probably a hundred other people you could be going to right now instead of me. ❞
that implies that she isn't as broken as she is. that she has everything put together and tied with a little bow. that she cry when she found out her guardian had been murdered, despite the intense relief falling over her. johanna has never been perfect. despite the time she spends detangling her hair and attempting to perfect every curl. she wasn't perfect when she skipped a meal or two ( or five ) to try to squeeze into a dress a size smaller than what she normally wears just for the sake of fitting into it. she can't wear yellow since it clashes with her hair and her skin tone. she can't cook. she cries at things that most people can easily get over.
johanna isn't good either.
she wants to be. good girls become good wives. if she isn't a good wife, then who is she? what else could she become after spending her whole life to a craft that she doesn't know if she's any good at?
❝ i don't care, ❞ she whispers against his head, a finger twirling some of his hairs together. ❝ i'm not good, but we're good for each other. aren't we? ❞ of course if johanna had the pick, she would end up with someone whose also broken. whose in need of a few repairs here and there but can grow. but can learn alongside her. but can encourage her as much as she encourages him. ❝ i don't want a hundred other people. just you. i married you. see? ❞ she lifts her fingers up. ❝ that's my ring right there. i chose you out of a hundred other people. ❞
