American servicemen returned from the First World War only to find a new type of violent conflict waiting for them at home.

This website by the National World War I Museum & Memorial explores the history of the 1919 Red Summer.

Notice that while the article mentions the Jim Crow Era as a minor detail , the presentation of the history lacks more contextualization with the social and economic conditions of legalized segregation and systemic racism in the United States at the time.

The article also doesn't mention that in 1915 U.S. President Woodrow Wilson supported white supremacists such as the Klu Klux Klan and their recruitment efforts.

But the article does provide a good introduction to the history.

So my only question is ..

When is someone post a vid or something about the white riots in Cali because their fave didn’t win a surf tournament…………….. and I’m not just talking about running down the streets. I’m talking looting, hanging from street lights, flipping port-o-poties, having all out brawls. Of course, they aren’t called thugs on national television.
