I think we’re in an age in America where a lot of the traditional institutions that have always been the bedrock of American society are going through either a massive decay and decline or a revolution in the wrong direction, so I would see white Christian nationalism and church decline as tied directly together and both creating an existential problem for the American church. And I don’t see a solution to that.

Putting limitations on the 2nd Amendment will likely NOT lead to a compete and total break-down of the amendment. There are limits on the 1st Amendment, and I think everyone can agree that CHILD PORN should be illegal. So why are assault rifles still legal? Why are guns so easy to purchase? The "slippery slope" argument just doesn't hold up.

In the run-up to the 2016 election, White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller promoted white nationalist literature, pushed racist immigration stories and obsessed over the loss of Confederate symbols after Dylann Roof’s murderous rampage, according to leaked emails reviewed by Hatewatch.

It’s hard for me to see how the Trump presidency survives into next year, but no matter how the establishment arranges for his removal, you can bet he’ll be a martyred hero among these people. Getting rid of Trump does not solve the problem. A smarter Trump coming along who will take the monster he has let out of the cage and try to ride it. I don’t know who it will be, but there’s power there, and it’s too tempting for some bad actor out there not to find a way to channel it for his/her political ambitions.

After all, this show’s premise proposes to create a “fictionalized” plot about the continuation of slavery, as if thousands of American farmers and corporations didn’t continue to practice slavery well into the 1940s. The show acts as if the latter half of the twentieth century didn’t see America’s prison population swell with millions of Black bodies. It pretends that today’s prisons and venerable corporations don’t exploit the 13th amendment to profit from forced prison labor. HBO’s Confederate imagines that there aren’t more people under state control today than there were in chains at the peak of American slavery.

The GOP Is America’s Party of White Nationalism

The Republican party's racists were once pushed to the fringes. In the Trump era, they're in charge.

The list of King’s asinine, bigoted, and offensive words and acts is too long to recount. But here’s the thing. It’s not really possible anymore to dismiss him “as a fringe player in legitimate policy debates,” as the New York Times notes that many Republicans would like to do. That may have been true at one time, in the days when the Republican Party was defined by Reagan. But those days are long past. Today it’s Donald Trump’s party, and there is not much breathing room between King and Trump when it comes to white nationalism. Indeed, after initially supporting Ted Cruz in last year’s primaries, King has become an avid Trump supporter.

A new political order is being forged in front of our very eyes, and authoritarian white populists are swinging the hammer. The leaders of this movement want nothing less than ideological hegemony across the entire West — an end to history, of sorts, but not anything like what Fukuyama had in mind. Even if they fall short of that lofty goal, they will have nonetheless reshaped Western politics for at least a generation.
