Students of Grade 4 organized an awareness campaign in a local residential community as part of the Global Perspective Challenge - 'How healthy is your diet'. They worked as a team to plan and execute a door-to-door drive to persuade people to eat healthy. They created an attractive poster to educate people and wrote a persuasive speech incorporating all that they have learnt in the unit.

Any time you're working with factors you can't control , it's hard. Teaching is HARD for all the things you don't get taught in colleges/universities. How childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime

Childhood trauma isn’t something you just get over as you grow up. Pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain. This unfolds across a lifetime, to the point where those who’ve experienced high levels of trauma are at triple the risk for heart disease and lung cancer. An impassioned plea for pediatric medicine to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on.

What is your A.C.E. score?  Adverse childhood experiences are one of the greatest public health threats unbeknownst to the majority of the population.  Childhood trauma directly impacts long term health outcomes and increased awareness is what is required to collectively come up with solutions in healing this type of trauma.  

As parents, we are confronted with our traumas every time we come to a difficult impasse with our child.  We have in that moment an opportunity to reenact our not so pleasant past, or to engage in a new, more positive approach.  Parenting is not easy, but it is a wonderful rite of passage into true and radical healing if we choose to face what is in front of us with courage.
