So Cfls (Community Family Life Services) FB Page removed the link as I called them out for exploiting me. No acknowledgement just make-believe it didn't happen. People are so basic. Of course I took a screen shot and copied what I posted. Ashley Mcswain do better. You are being given an opportunity and so far you are demonstrating that you don't care about women like me. "I went to this organization for help and they did nothing for me. Yet they are using my op-ed from the Washington Post to advertise their fundraiser. They did not call or invite me to be a partner, but are using my intellectual and emotional labor to advertise their fundraiser. I know the Executive Director and I reached out to her for help last year. She did not respond. I phoned her today and one of the many things she said to me was, 'You don't present like you need help Taylar.' No I don't fit the stereo-type of a woman who spent more than four years incarcerated . I don't look like a woman who returned home and was housed with a violent roommate and became homeless. I don't present like a returning citizen who was fired because I wrote and email to my boss because I was being emotionally and sexually harassed as well as suffering discrimination by an employee because of my sexuality and because I stated that I believed certain actions were steeped in racism. No I don't look like a person with mental health issues. Tell me what do I look like? How do women like me look? But have you asked what someone who looks like me needs? I don't have the luxury of saying things publicly because I'm trying to get others to join me in this movement. Yet you use my work to raise money for your organization while erasing me. Ashley Mcswain you missed an amazing opportunity to partner with this returning female citizen. We justice-involved women do not all have the same needs. The women being detained at the DC jail ask for little things that mean so much. Things one might think of as insignificant. In my last class they asked for two things: -folders "So we can keep our work together for you." They really are writing. -trail mix "We want something healthy to eat sometime." I stopped in at the $5 and below store today and they had folders for $0.50. So I got a few. We will spend 20 minutes deciding who gets what color. ❤️ I'm working on permission to bring in trail mix and other healthy snacks during our group. It's the small things. Also, if you have stickers please let me know as I'm running out. I can't wait for class tomorrow. 😊#whospeaksforme

I co-authored the section on "Trauma, Disability and Discrimination" and I have a personal essay in the publication.
