This is from a chapter in the manga where, i believe, L is being outsmarted by "Kira" and has a little panic attack moment. Look at those movement lines... what do u think his face is like... scared?? sad?? angry?? Either way, he's upset and i like that.

I don't know how many people have seen howl's moving castle

But this is Howl in his bird form. He does alot of action in the movie off screen in this form, and during that time it's shown the source of his heart (a fire demon at his home) frequently gets close to almost going completely out. At a certain point it pretty much does, and there's only a coal of it left. Howl in this state has almost lost himself, and it's shown the transformation between human and this form can be painful at times. That all combined with the fact he has to participate in a war in this form is probably pretty taxing.

So I drew howl getting a bit weaker from it all while simotanlusley probably having some pains. Because not enough of that is shown in the movie (in my opinion).
