A character holding another all through a painful or distressing wound tending, not so much restraining or holding them down as embracing them and soothing them through the procedure, the hold supportive but more tenderly personal than merely positioning them for access to their injuries.
A character so exhausted or sunk into their own misery of pain that they're stumbling along by rote without any real awareness of their surroundings until they essentially collide with another character who steps into their path and catches hold of them.
Passing an injured or ill character from one companion to another- the first companion has the character resting in their lap or leaning against their side or propped against their chest and they carefully shift them to transition them to the other companion, who slides into place and settles the ill or injured character back into the same position in their own hold, being careful to move the character as little as possible in the process.
A character is having heated words with another, getting increasingly agitated, until their ill or injured companion reaches weakly for them from where they're lying, whereupon the angry character abandons the escalating fight and switches demeanour entirely, no argument more important than not distressing their companion further, as they catch up the feeble hand in both of theirs and hurriedly obey the summons to reassure them.
A character attempting to hug another without being able to use their arms- their hands bound behind them and to or around an obstacle, they curl their torso forward and hunch their shoulders around the other character as much as possible, tilting their head and hooking their chin over the other's shoulder or head, providing what contact and comfort they can in their situation.
A character not hiding an injury, or even intentionally downplaying it, but just being so matter-of-fact and blasé about the wound or injury that their companions are still shocked when they realise the severity of it and dismayed to suddenly recalibrate exactly what the injured character considers to be a routine, unremarkable sort of injury.
Alternating POVs wherein the missing- lost, captured, trapped- character is absolutely, desolately positive no one's coming to find or rescue them and hopelessly resigned to the fact; meanwhile the other characters are frantically searching for them with increasing desperation and unwavering determination, gone nearly mad with worry and hellbent on finding them.
A character looks at another who is clearly not doing well- at the extremis of exhaustion, in emotional tatters, minorly but miserably ill, waterlogged, pervadingly chilled, looking like they've been dragged backwards through a hedge or several- and just opens their arms and says to them "Come here-" which is all the invitation the woebegone character needs to fall into their companion's arms to be wrapped in their embrace.
