Some I don't know quite what to do with but thought I'd throw out in case someone else does.  ((*) Are ones I do have ideas for, but that doesn't mean someone else can't play with them too. :) * Under the Dome ('He was trapped under the dome...')

* Glee (for some 4th-wall breaking, "Adam is auditioning for S5 of Glee) * Fawlty Towers - trapped by hotel hell

* King Kong ("He smells like apples/though he was an apple (Fruit of the Loom costume)")

* Waylaid by tourists to NY who think he's:  (my list:) - Doctor Who - Illya Kuryakin - King Arthur/Bradley James - Oliver Kieran-Jones

Downton Abbey (someone else has mentioned this one too) Narnia (same, I think) Baking with Martha Stewart (something appley) Lost The View ("After an interview they don't want him to leave" (because he's so lovable. But also consider how to be effective to the idea of  "Where is Adam?" by also focusing on Adam as Adam, all that we love about him, why we and Kurt would and should value him, and why he could go missing or explain that he's actually not missing at all. 

Ask yourself, "Where could or would Adam be?"

His jobs include: pizza delivery boy, barista, usher at Broadway theater, singing waiter, cabbie, etc. Busy recording his first album with The Apples. Working on a script for a TV show called Adam & the Apples, following the adventures of a group of fun-loving underdogs competing with "the popular kids" at a performing arts school. Starring in a new movie as Batman. A newly-cast Avenger. Or just a humble student by day, Superhero by night.  Starring in an off-off-Broadway production, to rave reviews. A spy for the British government, posing as a NYADA student. A volunteer at an animal rescue shelter. If anyone wants to use any of these in some artistic way,  please do so. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From handmedownrose : I think Adam is British Royalty, an Earl or a Duke or whatever. He was called back to England because there was urgent business regarding his family estate. His family doesn't know he's gay, which is why he chose to go to school in the U.S. because that way he can be free to be himself. He misses Kurt and can't wait to get back to him as soon as possible. Hopefully, in time to keep him from getting married to the human oil spill. Also, Adam Lambert's character should be a private detective hired by Adam C.'s family to spy on him. Too bad Adam L.'s character (I'll be glad when he has a name) is falling in love with Kurt himself, despite the fact that he's constantly giving him a hard time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From onthaedge : Adam belatedly got his letter to Hogwarts.  Some more: Adam found a mysterious wardrobe at his grandparents home that transported to Narnia. ** Adam was transported to Middle earth to assist with the defeat of Sauron. Adam is currently shut in, in his apartment scripting the Spice Girls musical. Adam is in Wonderland. Adam is actually British royalty. I had the idea earlier today, which is in the theme you're working with here AND the answer to how the NY-side seem to so easily go back and forth between Lima and NY: A Stargate. ;)  "Adam was traveling with Kurt to Lima to support him through Burt's test results,... but there was a solar flare that disrupted the Stargate's wormhole connection. Who knows where... or *when* he ended up?"  (And it allows for a subset of "Where is Adam?" answers. )
