So I said a few posts back it's got to be somewhere in Europe, most likely Germany since most of the last names sound to be from there, but there's other possibilities.

It's 1955, WW2 ended not so long ago, and as most of the neighbors seem to be from Europe, last names like Rudboys or Bubbles don't seem to be from there (🦅), so another theory I've got is the building everyone is staying at is working as a refugee place for ppl that had to leave their homes and go to the US for as long as they need. Also this would make sense if we assume Mia and Afton are american too (or atleast just Afton), the doppelganger base would be there and since they're local residents, Afton could easily do all his research there, and...

What if the whole idea of a refugee building was a trap just to have some random people to do his doppel experiments with?

Afton is so evil I wouldn't be surprised of this and more, and poor Mia not being aware...

Place Your Bets:

Does anyone else forsee the "death" of Castle Wolfenbach? I was hopeful for the Barony until the latest twists. I suppose that stealing Klaus from the time stop and Agatha ordering him to stay in the lab while Gil and everyone pretended orders were coming from him to stabilize the empire was too easy. But Boris can't hold the empire together on his own, and Gil would clearly much rather be with Tarvek and Agatha (and I'm reasonably certain readers would rather have him with them than trying to stabilize a crumbling government.)

So, the question arises: how to free Gil if there's no Klaus, plot-wise (assuming the Black Squad got the right one out). And destroying the symbol and headquarters for the Barony would also raise the stakes for the fight against the Polar Lords and the Other. Plus, of course, there's precedent. And wouldn't it be a great bookend? The empire started with Klaus' discovery of the destruction of his castle. Now it may end with it.

Placing Side Bets:

I sincerely doubt that the Queen of the Dawn is on Castle Wolfenbach. It feels too soon (and sloppy, tactically) for her to be there. It would have been easy to give orders over the radio to Captain Patel and an easy backup plan, if the Castle was in danger of being retaken, would be to just crash it into Mechanicsburg.

Aside: it never clicked that it was a black-level item that stopped time and the Black Squad was able to move in the time stop and appear/disappear in normal time for far too long.
