Will paid it no mind. There was something beneath the surface – a reasoning for his tethering to her, but it was never something that he was willing to dissect. It was what it was, without question, without justification. Nobody ever felt obligated to pry, and therefore, he never felt indebted to explain himself. If he neglected her in the face of her own traumas, what kind of man would that make him?

The silence spoke louder than anything she could have managed to say. His gaze would briefly shift from the road to her, and the revelation of all she stood to be would dawn upon him. He sees nothing beyond the memory of a girl who once stood. Trauma bled deep. It sank its teeth in and ripped humanity out of anyone it deemed fit. Harper was no exception. She wore the scars for proof. It broke something deep within him, because he knows – ultimately, she may not be saved.

Her voice punctures the silence. It is almost comforting. Will shrugs, because he doesn't have an answer that would satiate her in the way she seeks. "A lot of it was kept away from the public," Will states, his tone remaining stoic. "This wasn't the kind of thing we wanted people to see." The words are heavy, and they come hurling out of his mouth with regret like a knife. "It might get worse. It might not. I think you need to stay with me for a while." A beat, quiet contemplation. "Only if you're comfortable."

I really do want to use this account for my art, so I'm gonna try to do my own personal challenge. I really like this one ttrpg group, so I think I'm gonna relisten to my favorite campaign of theirs, and try to draw at least one scene from every episode.
