Tanthamore pendants

The history behind the #tanthamore pendants has been widely commented, but I want to point out the meaning of the minerals themselves, and the relation with their flaws.

First Kit, her pendant is a Jade stone, it can be for Jade, but this mineral is related with the heart chakra (love and harmony) very important in Kit’s arch of connect with her feelings and tame her impulsiveness.

The Jade, her pendant seams to be Turquoise stone, and it’s given by Scorpia in the Wildwoods, also can be a reminder of Kit’s eyes. This mineral is associated to throat area. It helps with communication and to express by yourself, and this is something we saw Jade improve throughout the show, to express her feelings and to don’t be only the upright knight and speak for herself.

Like mother like daughter 2

“The design began with her mother’s costume from the original movie. Young took inspiration from Sorsha’s corseted belt and shoulder armor, giving Kit a waist cinching belt and attached shoulder piece as a modernized version.”

It’s the shoulder piece and the corseted belt, but also the black themed outfit, the arrows and of course, the sword

Jade Claymore and swords

It’s not a coincidence that Jade is a great at swordfight, her full name is Jade Claymore, Claymore it’s a type of longsword, in fact claymore in Scottish Gaelic means “great sword” so her name fits perfectly

It’s not the type of sword she uses, this is a two-handed sword with a cross hilt of forward-sloping quillons with quatrefoil terminations.

The one she uses it’s more like a Japanese sword named Shikomizue, which means cane sword or prepared sword, a straight single-edged sword, camouflaged with the outward apperance of a cane

Tanthalos name

Continuing with the name theme, the name Tanthalos looks a lot like Tantalus, it’s a name of a king in the Greek mythology

This king was condemned in Hades (Greek underworld) to stand in water that recedes when he tries to drink it and under fruit tree that moves away as he reaches for it.

It resembles the struggle Kit have all the show, searching for her father and when she thinks she’s reached it fade away

Same happens to Airk, he’s stuck in the Immemorial City, every time he thinks he has escaped he starts again

Graydon Hastur name

Another curiosity related with names, the name Hastur, beside being a entity from Cthulhu Mythos. In Icelandic it’s an adjective, of speech, that means rough or brusque.

Reminded me the first impresions we have of Hastur family in the wedding feast; -And then he sort of grunted and shuffled his feet-

It suits the first impression we have of Graydon, but not when we really meet him
