Okay, maybe a full-blown fire tornado was off the table this time, but that still wasn’t stopping Venti from testing out how many marshmallows he could roast at one time. Armed with eight skewers in either hand, his current output wasn’t so bad, if he said so himself! And if he swirled the fire around them just so - mm, they were roasting perfectly!
But fun treats like these were always best shared with friends, of course, and Venti scanned the area for anyone to invite over - an old companion, or maybe a new one…? Hm, there was a rather stoic-looking fellow sitting nearby. Maybe he’d like one.
“Hello!” Venti said cheerily, holding out all fourteen marshmallow skewers for the other to peruse. “Would you like a marshmallow?”
The tradition of baking and sharing roasted sweets while gathering around the fire with friends was still very much a novelty to Dan Heng. Of course, he knew it was something people did - but had no personal experience with such endeavors. The Astral Express didn't really stop in places where it was a thing (there were bonfires in Belobog's Underworld, of course, but during their Trailblazing expedition they were more a matter of life and death than a source of entertainment), the train itself did not allow such activities for reasons he sincerely hoped were obvious even to Caelus, and before that, well... no.
So when a stranger veiled in cheerful gusts - in stark contrast to his chilling breeze - called out to him happily and offered him marshmallows (a lot of marshmallows, in fact), he took a moment to fully process how he was going to respond.
"Ah... Appreciated," Dan Heng eventually said quietly, with a light smile. "Though just... one of those will be plenty."
(Does the guy intend to eat all the rest himself?...)
