Harpies have syrinxes (similar to parrots and corvids) which allow them to imitate various sounds, especially human speech. Harpies have even been documented with understanding of some human language words, for example, “food,” “leave,” and even “hello,” with older generations teaching the chicks words and phrases. There have even been a few instances of a harpy forming full, albeit broken, sentences.

Kraaampus! While I kinda like what I managed to do here despite regretting the fur and the horns while drawing (because they weren't fun to draw and I was impatient) it still doesn't really look like Krampus? Something is off. I think. Hmm... I'll have to try again!

I’m updating these two’s lore with a lot more thought. Basically, WC used to hang around in the middle upper regions of Alaska. Nobody knows what the creature is or where it came from, but it doesn’t seem to do anything so it’s left alone. It has a bit of a penguin mentality and is often friendly towards people. People are still encouraged to treat them as any wildlife and follow the rules.

They met their Ptarmigan harpy buddy when they decided to try traveling farther out of Alaska and ended up in the Yukon region, specifically Ivvavik National Park. No one’s really sure how their friendship was established, but park rangers often see the two hang out together.

WC will occasionally head back to Alaska for a few months. The harpy always acts indifferent, but looks forward to their visits.
