i know it wasnt in the ask game, but could you talk about the transformations in your winx AU?
That’s perfectly okay! You can always send me questions about the Winx rewrite! I love to talk about it.
The transformations go as follows:
Season 1 – basic fairy forms, the same ones from the show. They have no name.
*I have also added some “upgrades” that can be earned. They are kind of like Sophix and Lovix (I am even considering using the names but I will be tweaking the way they work) that are centered around a theme. For example, one of them is based on resilience and allows the fairy to turn what should have been physical damage from an opponent’s attack into magic she can use to attack back. However, she still feels the pain of the attack and so her brain might shut down even if she doesn’t get hurt from physical attacks. These “upgrades” are called magical roots and are a total of 12. Any fairy can earn any and all of them. They do only work with the basic transformation, though, but will be coming back in later seasons as well.
Season 2 – Charmix, but very different from what we saw on the show. Charmix is a transformation of its own and is extremely important. It’s the bridge between the basic fairy form and other more powerful and specialized transformations. Without having a Charmix, a fairy can’t earn any other transformations. Fairy evolution always consists of a transition from basic fairy form to Charmix and then may diverge towards many other different transformations. Charmix is earned through connecting with your inner self (pretty much as it was on the show but I will be changing the ways some of Winx won it because damn, did some of those not make any sense). I am unclear on how Charmix will look exactly. I am kind of waiting to see what they do with the transformations in season 9 because the leaks look good and I might be able to use those looks.
Season 3 – Enchantix. Now Enchantix is also different from the show. Enchantix is a Guardian Fairy transformation. It is earned through basically dying to save the fairy’s entire planet. When it’s earned, the fairy is connected to her planet and draws from the energy of the planet which comes with certain strings that I am not going to reveal now because they’re a major gut-punch for Winx. Essentially, yes, all Winx become Guardian Fairies of their planets (even Bloom and without breaking the rules at that) and mainly because of Valtor’s scheming since he is responsible for the threats to their planets. Enchantix is a pretty rare transformation, though, because of the demands of earning it and the function it serves. It looks mostly as it does on the show with maybe some little extra details to personalize the look more and make it speak of each Winx’ sacrifice. I am still thinking about alternative transformations for the other Alfea students.
Season 4 – The transformation here is Dreamix. My idea with it so far is that it is earned whenever a fairy helps someone achieve their dreams. I’m thinking that the transformation grants the fairy any power she’s dreamed of having up to the point of earning it as long as it is compatible with the fairy’s magical element. Dreamix will be using the Believix visuals from the show. Any and all of this might change at some point, however. Season 4 is still very much a work in progress without that clear a structure. That is the only transformation that will be present in the season, however, as well as Roxy’s basic fairy form and whatever is going on with the Earth fairies (who no longer have wings thanks to the Wizards of the Black Circle so they probably won’t have transformations; their magic is supposed to be weird and a blend of several things that should not be mixed and Earth magic is all over the place anyway).
Season 5 – Harmonix and Sirenix but they are both adapted to my story. Harmonix is the main transformation of the season. It will stay during the whole season (from the moment each Winx earns her own, of course) and its purpose is to allow a fairy to use elements that are different from that of her magical core. It’s not just a water transformation. It allows a fairy to “harmonize” with any element that she wants to work with. I am still working on the way it’s earned mostly because I’m trying to make sure it’s achievable and that I’ll have time for all of that since season 5 also has a million plot threads and I keep adding more. Harmonix is using the original Dreamix looks from World of Winx but again with some added details to personalize each outfit to the fairy and the way she earned the transformation.
Sirenix has minor presence. It’s only used to enter the Infinite Ocean. Sirenix was supposed to be one of the nine Nymph powers. However, Winx end up sharing it, and with the Trix, too, when it was originally meant for only one person to use it. As a Nymph power, Sirenix isn’t classified as a transformation exactly. It is only used as a transformation by a fairy Nymph but Nymphs can also be other magic users. Winx’ Sirenix uses the looks of the original Harmonix transformation from the show, the idea being that all their outfits are uniform because they are sharing the exact same power.
*Butterflix might make an appearance as an Earth-specific transformation (which will probably come in with Roxy) but I still have a lot more twisting and tweaking to do with it until it can fit in well with all of the worldbuilding and make sense.
Season 6 – Bloomix which will most likely end up being called Magic Winx since Bloom is sharing her magic with the rest of the girls. Now I just started poking at that again and trying to make it work a slightly different way than what I had originally planned because I had new thoughts. It essentially boils down to Bloom giving Winx some of her Dragon Fire, though, and I was thinking of using the charm bracelets from season 5 as containers which will become their inner sanctums (since any holder of the Dragon Fire needs to have one) but that’s still a wip. Also, I was thinking of Winx having to use the Dragon Fire power to shape it into the powers they lost to the Legendarium but again, nothing is solid on that yet. Bloomix will be using the Onyrix visuals that have some common motifs (such as diamonds and flowers in all the outfits) because of it being based in the Dragon Fire power. Mythix has been removed but I am keeping the Ancestral Wands as the way to entering the Legendarium (unless you’re the one in possession of it) and because the Ancestral Fairies are part of the worldbuilding, actually.
Season 7 – Believix. No Sophix and Lovix or the three different sets of wings. Believix is earned through the fairy’s belief in good and in herself. It is the most powerful and ultimate fairy transformation but it also has a little catch. Since it hinges on belief and self-confidence, the moment that wavers, the transformation might stop working mid-fight. It takes constant and internalized belief in yourself to maintain the transformation. Believix will use the Bloomix outfits because they are both sophisticated and individualized for each Winx while they work together as a unit.
