Since you mentioned that Dahlia, Gabi and Bazeema are the "Heathers" of your rewrite, I thought: "What if I do an animatic of that one part of the song "Big Fun" that was viral a few years ago?" So that's this lol:
I really love that idea of yours and hope that you like this too! As a fan of the Heathers musical (and movie), I love this refrence!
And I'll tag others too, bc yes (Tagging Time @starss-artss @your-ne1ghbor @rascalentertainments @spectator-zee @pinkninja0708 @ceyasstuff @cielos-pintados @whiteghoul24 @tumblingdownthefoxden @thatbrowavy )
Their clothes are inspired by what culture I think they're from based on their names.
Gabo - Spaniard (since Rosa is set somewhere in Spain, I gave him a nicer Spanish tunic. He works in the Castle Kitchens so maybe he shouldn't be able to afford it, but Bazeema made it for him for his birthday)
Hal - North African. (Nothing against her pants, but I gave her a dress because she's look really pretty in one)
Safi - Arabian (I didn't really change his clothes to match his culture. He just wears the coziest clothes he can find as long as they don't trigger his allergies. Bazeema made his clothes for him to help with his easily irritable skin)
Dahlia - Taiwanese (I didn't change her clothes much, I liked her design. I gave her a bandanna because she placed her hands on top of her head while thinking and doesn't want to get flour in her hair)
Bazeema - Arabian (Bazeema likes to reflect her culture more in her clothing. She's a seamstress and works at her mother's shop)
Simon O'Donohue - Irish (Simon is a Hebrew name, but O'Donohue is derived from an Irish name, and because that's his last name I'm going with that one. Because this is his Knight outfit, its just the one from the movie without any Irish influences)
Dario - German (Dario is an Italian name, but his mother named him that after already arriving at Rosas and seeing others with the name, liking it)
I still can't get the unused concept art of Wish out of my head so I've been reading a lot of rewrites and looking at a lot of Wish redesigns...
So... I got inspired. I'm currently conceptualizing my own Wish "rewrite/redesigns", but with a twist. It's gonna be a spiritual "prequel", cuz idk I feel like being meta since we'll be using the original concepts before the final concepts/decisions made for the final movie XD
Many of my "prequel" characters will be stand-ins for the canon characters! So "Asha" will be renamed "Amala", "Magnifico" will be called "Mamoun", and so on. Think of Pokemon Legends: Arceus regarding the relations of these "OCs" with the canon characters.
Anyway, here are the designs I have so far! I only have the designs for Amala and the Star for now. Hopefully, I can get to draw the other characters soon, especially Mamoun and his wife.
The story will be called "Once Upon a Wish"
Here's an overview of what I have so far... Some details may change if I feel like my other choices serve the story better. (Also, small disclaimer, this is just a veryyy self-indulgent AU made by yours truly, so some details may not be accurate with the canon lore present in Wish)
The story takes place on the same island of Rosas, but from many years ago. If my research is right, canon Wish takes place in the 1200s, so maybe my "prequel" can take place in around the 900s-1000s. Rosas definitely wasn't called Rosas back then, but I'm still figuring out what to call it so I'm just gonna refer to it as "an island".
Amala is a shy, meek, but hardworking apprentice of the island's head sorcerer Mamoun (hence, her color palette looks similar to Mickey's outfit from The Sorcerer's Apprentice). Despite all her hard work in her magic studies, she doesn't really excel at using magic, making a lot of accidents during training. If there's anything she really excels at, it's the act of storytelling (She can draw/animate, sing, and write stories like fairy tales).
Amala also has a little sister Ayah, who I can imagine is the Lilo/Anna to Amala's Nani/Elsa. Ayah is spunky and cheerful, but she has an illness that makes her disabled. The sisters are orphans, but they live under an old family friend they affectionately call Grandpa Dabir. Dabir is a retired bard turned doctor who was part of a troupe with 6 other former bards, all of whom he and the sisters still interact.
That's all I can share for now. Feel free to ask me any questions about stuff about this AU!
So here it is! my wish rewrite poster, Finding a Wish!
Here's a bit of lore summary (May be subject to change):
"Every star that shines in the sky, is a wish fulfilled. Yet every shooting star waits for the wishers call"
There was a young 8 year old servant girl Asha, studying magic as sorcerers apprentice doing alright.
Until she was involved in a tragic attack in her village. There was fire, destruction, her home burned and collapsed. And Asha lost her family all thanks to the kingdoms enemy known as, "the wayward wishers." A group who desires to put the kingdom at risk and destoy the wishes for their own selfish gain. Fortunately she was rescued by King Magnifico and Queen Amaya, from the rubble. Soon she became princess overnight.
For ten years she was a symbol of trust to the people of Rosas and would help oversee the wishes to determine its worthiness. But with all the wish consultations, she questions if any of the wishes will even get a chance when the day of fulfillment comes. On top of that, Asha meddled in and learned that her family was alive, leading the wayward wishers and "the tragic accident" was a means of the royals to get rid of the rebellion.
On the night of her ceremony, Asha was completely lost after everything she learned. Her adoptive family, tried to get rid of her real family, kidnapped her and used her as a figurehead to gain the trust of Rosas. Of course, The king and queen also figured out that Asha's family was still alive. (Thanks to intel from Flazino) and once again manipulates Asha. Telling her that they didn't want to crush her with "the truth", that her family abandoned her and left her to die along with her dream. They remind her that she was saved and was given everything, while her real family reduced her to nothing but a burden.
Yet Asha was not satisfied and felt lost. Upon looking at the dandelions blowing in the wind, she finds resolve and runs away (along with her pet goat Valentino). Asha makes a wish on a shooting star and promises herself that she will hold on to her dream of giving everyone a chance at true fulfillment, even if its the last thing she does.
And that's when she meets the unmarked Stardian, Earendel and his little starling friend, Twinkle. Thanks to Asha's call, Earendel can make his mark in the sky through helping Asha fulfill her wish. For that is the purpose of an unmarked stardian. (which is also the only purpose the stardian has.) However, Earendel was the last unmarked Stardian and Twinkle was the last starling in their cluster. And unmarked stardians need starlings to help assist them in fulfilling their purpose, while also sustaining them on the earths surface before they burn up.
Together they go into hiding, join the wayward wishers in the hidden hamlet and Asha reunites with her family.
Familiarizing myself with their designs again while also playing around with my style <3
Work is always hectic this time of year, and the week of thanksgiving is like the busiest day for grocery retail (still have Black Friday tomorrow rip) but I really wanted to draw them again so here’s something simple <3<3<3
