Hah! Nothing quite like a Pirate Au to get people’s attention :D

The idea popped up when I listened to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arAt0VvGIN4 and got strong feelings about a maybe slightly angsty Rosvolio with a seaside setting.

But by now I’ve also seen the trailer for that Netflix show Outer Banks, which made me think of veering from a Pirate AU to a modern sunken treasure hunt-adventure type story, so.... we’ll see what’s going to happen to that. I haven’t really written an exciting adventure story yet, so maybe it’s time I get around to that.

I've been alright. Work's been rough this year, so I'm looking forward to the end of the school year. What kind of keyboard layout are you now using? I admit to being amused that I keep randomly following you into different fandoms. Having Critical Role going while grading does help pass the time more quickly. I really enjoy seeing the comments you post about your D&D group. They found like a lot of fun. ~wistfulmemory

Aw, I’m sorry about the work. It’ll be soon, right? I’m using the Dvorak layout. With regular QWERTY I type about 100 wpm. I’m hovering at about 52 wpm with the new layout and I have the additional problem of mixing up the two layouts in my mind. It’s slow and frustrating.

I’ve had Critical Role playing in the background for weeks now. I’m now at the conclusion of the first campaign and even though I know what happens, nervous as all hell. And fandom crossover is the funniest thing. So many of my old Chuck readers I reconnected with in the Carmilla fandom!

Hey hey! Been awhile! Novels are....slowly happening. I’m still researching for one and writing another which will be out in March (I can say that, I’m not official here). It’s strange not having a book out in 2017, but after my surgery, it was nice to catch a little bit of a breather. :) How’re you?

1/1 Your dice are so cool! What material are they made out of, and what type of dice are on the far right side? I've never seen any like that before. ~wistfulmemory

Hey stranger! Thanks! These are all resin dice and the crystals on the side are cast from a mold I made off of the Kyber crystal I bought for my lightsaber at a company owned by a mouse. I use a bunch of different colorants in the resin to try different effects. The molds I’m using are flawed, so I’m just regarding these as test cases.

Oh, man. I totally forgot to sign my last message. I'm enjoy the story, though sadly I'm not making it through the book as quickly as I would like as turning pages requires a decent amount of focus. Hopefully I can get through more of it tomorrow. ~wistfulmemory

I was wondering about the status of your next book but wasn't wanting to bother you with questions about it. I'm glad to hear it's in the editing stage. Good luck with that! ~wistfulmemory

Yeah, a great deal of the delay is my fault. 2017 was a bad year and writing was not a thing that happened much. The rest of the problem is that they overloaded my editor to the point where she jumped ship. So now I have a third editor for this book, fourth for this series. We’ll see how it goes. And thanks!

For the Fanfic Day meme, I would like to know what inspired "Counterfeit and Counterpart"? ~wistfulmemory

That one was written for Heroine Big Bang back in 2013, so my memory is a little fuzzy. I know it started out as a Maria-and-Natasha-are-actually-good-friends-dammit because Avengers didn’t even let them talk to each other. And heavily inspired by @tielan and her amazing Maria stories. As all of my stories eventually do, it became something else halfway through and the roadtrip component was added on. 

Maria looking like Larisa from the Red Room was probably a twist that happened in the writing process rather than planning. My friend @sabra-n is the awesome lady behind Maria’s past as a rescue diver, though. She’s the genius behind a lot of things that appear in my stories. She had so much fun on that wiki page.
