Stick the two pins through the middle of the candle at Midnight, Concentrate on your lover and repeat his or her name several times. After the candle burns down to the pins, your lover will arrive, Its also said that if you give your love one of the pins they will remain bound to you.

If you wish companionship rather than passion use a candle of a colour appropriate to the other persons star sign.

This spell is one used influence someone else, so be very careful how you use it. Pins were often used n magical work in times gone by, because they were readily available. One old custom was to ask a bride for the pins from her wedding dress, for which you must give her a penny.

    Obsidian is nature’s glass form of hardened volcanic lava. A “mirror stone” (caused by its polished, glossy surface), this gem has the ability to reveal your shadow self - your flaws, weaknesses, and fears.Obsidian has the potential to guard you against negative energies. Obsidian dissolves emotional blockages and trauma from an earlier life, bringing a depth and clarity to the emotions. It promotes compassion and strength.

    This crystal is perfect for therapists and other counselors; it aids in finding the root of a problem. With this, Obsidian can provide relief towards shock. A strongly protective stone, Obsidian can make an excellent talisman - a trinket typically hung around the neck that protects against evil. Healing

    In regards to health, Obsidian is known to provide insight into physical diseases caused by emotional stress, like heart disease. It also has the ability to accelerate the healing of wounds, bruises, and sprains. Emotionally, Obsidian assists in overcoming sudden injury or grief beyond your control - such as verbal or physical abuse.  By exposing the pain of the past, Obsidian enables one to take responsibility and action toward healing.

The Root Chakra resonates best with Obsidian. It's located at the base of the spine and controls the energy for feeling, movement, and intention. It's the foundation of physical and spiritual energy. Obsidian returns this Chakra to a balanced state.

Variations

Like many gems, Obsidian has different forms, each of which has their own meanings.

Apache Tear: Small nodules of obsidian. This form is excellent in absorbing negative energies and comforting grief. These are strong stones for spiritual grounding.

Black: Powerful and creative, Black Obsidian grounds the soul and spiritual energy in the physical plane. Shamans used this crystal to heal physical disorders and, in sphere form, to scry -looking into a reflective surface to discover hidden knowledge or future events- and meditate.

Blue: Helps with astral travel (a willful out-of-body experience), divination, and enhancing telepathy. It activates the Throat Chakra and supports communication. The Throat Chakra, located at the base of the throat, is known for communicative abilities.

Gold Sheen: Particularly effective in scrying and imparting knowledge of spiritual direction.

Mahogany: Has the ability to give strength and purpose in times of need. Mahogany Obsidian has a gentler energy than Black. When worn on the body, it can relieve aches or sores and enhance blood circulation.

Snowflake: Supports treatment for disorders related to the skeletal and vascular system. Snowflake Obsidian is a stone of clarity - it can provide balance to the mind, spirit, and body. This gem has a handy ability to show you the importance of mistakes and the success that may spring from them.

In Lore & Legend

   The Aztec’s often carved the nocturnal sky god, Tezcatlipoca (tes-kaht-li-poh-kah), out of Obsidian. Tezcatlipoca is often depicted with his right foot replaced with Obsidian - either as a mirror or bone - or as a snake. The Aztecs also used Obsidian as a material for general tools, weapons, and for ritualistic healings.

    The older civilizations of the Mayans and Olmecs worshipped a god similar to Tezcatlipoca, called Tohil (toh-il) (meaning “obsidian”). He was most often associated with ritualistic sacrifice. Another Mayan god, K’awil, was depicted with a smoking Obsidian knife lodged in his forehead and a snake as his right leg.The Hawaiian Islands have their own variation of Obsidian referred to as “Pele’s Hair.” The name comes from the Polynesian Volcano Goddess, Pele (peh-leh). Ancient Polynesian culture believed Pele kept the souls of the dead in her realm and released them back to Earth in the form of lava.

Had an odd dream that I’m trying to make sense of.

In the dream I was holding a green candle. Kind of an olive green, not too rich. I don’t remember if it had a particular scent. I was holding it in both hands, and I think I was trying to charge it or something. And I was crying on it. I wasn’t crying about anything, I was just crying on the candle. 

It felt somehow significant, but I don’t know why.
