Zuko resisted the urge to mimic the same move that Sokka was doing just now, it certainly wouldn’t help his case. Instead, he leaned against the nearest wall and glared more at the water tribe warrior, which Sokka was clearly quick to point out to him.

“No, it’s called being annoyed. Honestly, why did you decide to bring that guy along? He’s not really helping things.” The only thing Zuko noticed about that Haru guy was that he was attractive and it was obvious to Zuko that Sokka noticed as well. “We were all just fine without him here, we’ve got this figured out on our own.”

Zuko let out a laugh, unable to resist trying to hide the sound in the crook of Sokka’s neck. He was more gone for this man than the Water Tribe warrior probably even realized. “That wasn’t always the case, you could’ve taken advantage when we were a bit younger.” After the war, Zuko had shot up like a weed. So had Sokka, but Zuko was taller now. He liked it because it meant he could do things like this.

His arm twined around Sokka’s waist as he tugged him ever closer. “You could say that. Half a year, Sokka. I know you’re needed in the South, but did you have to go away that long?” Zuko knew the answer to that, but he couldn’t help but complain anyway. “Stay a bit longer this time. Be the Water Tribe Ambassador. That spot is still open, you know.” He’d originally offered the position to Hakoda, but it had been rejected and Zuko figured it was because the man knew one of his children might take it. Katara was off with the Avatar, so that left Sokka who he had already offered the position to and hoped he might take this time. As the Chief’s children, either Sokka or Katara were more than qualified for the role.

Zuko flicked his singular eyebrow upward. Did Sokka just call him pretty? That was interesting to say the least. He huffed a breath and replied, “If you really want my opinion, I’m going to take it as both. Now the real question is, are you going to live up to your — promise or threat?” A smirk graced his mouth as he eyed the other. There was annoyance in Sokka’s frame currently, though why, Zuko had no idea. Sokka was the one who started it this time after all.
