Please please please read in my FAQ here on why not to take a wolf as a pet. Also, you can read there why wolf dog hybrids are a bad idea as well. I hope I really can change your mind :)

For your anon~ Wolves aren't pets because they can't be domesticated, just like lions, and tigers. Sure they can be "raised" and "trained" but like she stated, they are still all wild animals, and they will live their lives miserably. Actually, we DID domesticate those animals, we call them dogs and house cats. There are plenty of completely domestic lookalike dog breeds if you feel the need to have something that looks like a wolf that badly :]

The domestication from for example wolf to dogs was a long process and I think we can say we turned them into something completely different then a wild wolf. You can’t compare them. Wolves are wild, unreliable, unexpected, uncontrollable and they will always be, in the wild or as a pet.

She has a good point here; it indeed is possible to ‘train’ them (to a limit), but it still will always be wild and unreliable and above all living a really miserable life.

So if you say you want a wolf as a pet and say you will give it everything to make it happy, you just can’t, it never will be happy because you are trying to pet an animal that belongs in the wild.

I read a comment on how you and someone else think it's wrong to own a wild animal. Well, I just wanted to offer this: do you think the domesticated animals we call pets, were always domesticated? Would it not, then, also be wrong to own a pet of any sort?

I think a lot of times it is wrong to have pets because people don’t have the time, space , dexterity, etc to deal with and take care of one. I unfortunately see that around me a lot. And if they can’t even deal with a domestic dog or cat (animals that have been around with humans so long that they aren’t ‘wild’ anymore), then how could they possible take care of a wíld animal? The owner probably won’t be able to take care of it and will thereby hurt himself, his pet and people/animals around him.

So yes, I think in a lot of cases it also is wrong to keep whatever domestic pet of any sort, just because a lot of people really can’t take care of them at all.

Why not have a wolf as a pet? I mean, as long as you're treating it perfectly fine, and you get it somewhat as a pup, and train it well. It'd act like a normal dog, but with the wolfs look. I guess you can get a Husky, since they look somewhat like a wolf, but it's not the same. You can't have wolfs as a pet though, unless you get the states okay for it.

Even as you get it as a pup, it still will be wild and uncontrollable. It won’t act like a normal dog.Treating it perfectly fine to me means at least having a huge fenced forest with wild living preys in it and letting the wolf have a pack, but I won’t call that a pet wolf anymore.

I don’t know what country you are from where you can have an okay for it? I don’t know in how many countries that is allowed? Not so many I hope lol
