trying to work but honestly im thinking about simon ending up on sam’s avengers, and sam’s like “saw your movie, i liked it” (you know, in that tone he does that could be flirting or could be friendly but drives everyone insane about him lol) and simon’s like, trying to play it off as cool and chill but he’s the opposite of that so while he’s freaking out internally he also trips over his words a little.
sam, of course, is just 😌
Okay so, you know those bits and pieces of how you talked about a Captain America/Wonder Woman dynamic ever now and then? We're getting a series of new Marvel/DC crossover comics, starting with a Deadpool/Batman comic, where a Captain America/Wonder Woman story acts as a back-up comic in that issue, featuring the combo of Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson working on the story.
The few leaked pages of the CA/WW portion of the comic, which are coming out this Wednesday, immediately reminded me of your musings in a way that makes me wonder if Marvel and DC might be cribbing your notes, in like... a good way?
This did prompt me to look up that leak and I think it's kind of hilarious because if there was ever a time for Wonder Woman to go full "Infinite Crisis" again and snap a dude's neck, it's with fucking Hitler.
I mean like... yeah I get that they're trying to lean more into Diana's "Fights with love and compassion" roots with her more recent writing, but she would 100% snap Hitler's neck. Or decapitate him with a sword.
Steve: Jesus...
Diana: I apologize. I understand he still had much to answer for in the courts of the world of Men.
Steve: No I get it. I absolutely get it. It's not like we could really give him any chance to take control of the narrative... too many people are still at stake...
Diana: His hatred will linger in this world for years to come. I fear I may have made a martyr.
Steve: ...or you set an example. *pause* Hey was that ancient greek lightning strike thing true?
Diana: Excuse me?
Steve: That thing you mentioned a while back. You said if someone got struck by lightning in Ancient Greece, that just meant Zeus wanted you dead and everyone just... rolled with it.
Diana: Acknowledging the will of the gods is more significant and nuanced than 'just rolling with it,' Mr. Rogers. What is your point?
Steve: My point is, you're one hell of a lightning bolt, Miss Prince.
You know that meme that’s like “(insert name here) is been there, done that. (Insert another name here) is currently doing that…” from Parks and Rec?
Now, I am first and foremost a Wonder Woman should kiss women truther, but Captain America would be Diana’s “If I had to pick a blonde guy who fought for the US in World War II named Steve” if it were up to me. The comic keeps them platonic and I actually really appreciate that. However, in another universe where Diana is a Marvel character or in a longer Elseworld, I wouldn’t hate them together.
As for the story we did get, I can’t even say I have mixed feelings: I’m disappointed but not in the same way a lot of people seem to be. My unpopular opinion is that I think Zdarsky is a good writer and that in the grand scheme of things, he didn’t really write them out of character. That being said, with the way the world is right now (especially in my country), I don’t care for any messaging about Nazis facing justice that requires them to still be breathing. The art was pretty though.
No seriously I could see Twiyor as wondercap because besides both being a blond man and black haired woman ship. Loid and Yor would be great at beating up Nazis.
