Today’s Destination in Korea (1) - Wonju, Gangwon-do

Have you ever seen this beautiful picture? This is a picture of “Hanji Festival” in Wonju city, Gangwon-do. These beautiful lights are made of “Hanji”, a traditionally-made papers. Hanji is made from mulberry tree, and they are very common in Wonju city. So in Wonju, there has been an annual festival mainly related to Hanji. You can experience the process of making Hanji, watching Hanji puppet play, and you can even make your own Hanji. And it is academically inspiring too, because there are exhibitions of Hanji, and academic workshops.

Kira is a Bhutanese traditional female costume, which is wrapped a rectangular cloth around the body and tied a belt called Kera. Then, it is worn with a jacket called Tego and a blouse called Wongu. In this video, she is wearing a Half Kira. In Bhutan, people are obliged to wear their traditional costumes at schools and offices.
