[English subtitled video] The graveyard of Yoshikage Asakura, a Japanese military commander in Warring States Period, is located in an urban area within walking distance of Ono Castle. Yoshikage was the last head of Asakura clan, one of territorial lords in Warring States Period. He was defeated in the battle against Nobunaga Oda, and he died here in Ono City. The graveyard that is located in a residential district and now its quiet surroundings are a park with spring water and a pond.(1'01") この動画は、昨年の夏、朝倉義景の墓所を訪ねたときのものです。NHK大河ドラマ「麒麟がくる」にいよいよ登場した朝倉義景。ユースケ・サンタマリアさん演じる義景を見て、思っていたイメージと違った反面、無性に興味が湧いてきました。実際の義景の人間性はどうだったのでしょうか。一方、明智光秀の越前での当時の評価はとても高かったようですね。ところで朝倉義景の墓は、大野城から徒歩圏内の市街地にあることをご存じですか。義景は朝倉氏最後の当主でしたが、織田信長との戦いに敗れ、大野で最期を遂げました。静かな墓所にある湧水は「義景清水」と呼ばれています。一乗谷朝倉氏遺跡も再開されて、この義景の墓所もこれから訪れる人が増えそうですね。(1'01")

[English subtitled video] Mealtime of lesser pandas in Sabae City Nishiyama Zoo. (3'50") Sabae City Nishiyama Zoo, which had been closed due to coronavirus, reopened today, June 1st, 2020. Although it is a small admission-free zoo, it has succeeded in breeding many lesser pandas as one of the highest within Japan. This video shows some meal scenes of the cute lesser pandas from the images provided by the zoo. 鯖江市西山動物園が今日（6月1日）からようやく再開となりました。この日を待ってたファン、きっと多いのではないでしょうか。当分は時間短縮での開園になるようです。さて西山動物園といえば、入場無料で規模の小さい動物園ながら、レッサーパンダの繁殖数では国内有数なんです。パンダたちにとって暮らしやすい環境なんですね。この動画に登場するのは、ライト、たいよう、ミルキー、ムータン、ティアラ、めいしゃん、キラリ、モッチー。西山動物園さんからいただいた映像素材から集めたものです。また皆に会いに行ってみてくださいね。（3'50")

[English subtitled video] Here is a video of the Iris Flower Festival in June 2018 at Daianzenji Temple in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. It is an annual event but it is not sure if it will be held or not this year due to COVID-19. But according to the blog of the temple, the priest is taking care of the iris garden as usual, so hopefully, we could see the irises this year again. この動画は、一昨年の福井市にある大安禅寺 花菖蒲園の様子です。大安禅寺では毎年6月になると花菖蒲祭が開かれます。今年は新型コロナウイルスの影響もあり、開催されるのかどうか今のところ未定のようですが、住職のブログを拝見したところ、花菖蒲園の手入れをされているようなので、入場の制限はあるかもしれませんが、また美しい花菖蒲を見られることを期待したいですね。

“Fantastic collaboration: 826aska and Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum” Here is a video created by Fukui Prefectural Tourism Federation.Currently, the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The other day, 826aska, who is a talented electronic organ player from Fukui Prefecture, paid a special visit to the museum. And she played the organ in front of "dinosaurs" there. Normally, the dinosaur museum is filled with children's smiles and energy. But now there is no one. The dinosaurs look vaguely lonely. Even so, they might have cheered up as they listened to the beautiful performance by 826aska. May the dinosaur museum return to a lively place like it had been before as soon as possible.

The Hongan Shozu was constructed to use as a drinking water source of the castle town of Ono Castle in Warring States Period. The Hongan Shozu has been designated as a national natural treasure as the habitat of three-spined stickleback, which is cold-water fish. You can enjoy learning about biology and environment of creatures including three-spined stickleback. You can watch directly the three-spined stickleback swimming in the observation corner of the Hongan Shozu Itoyo-no-Sato Museum.

Here is the video of Japan Systembank Corp.'s training for new employees in 2015. The training continued for nearly one month, and it ended with a zen meditation program at the Daianzenji Temple in Fukui City. Kira is a Bhutanese traditional female costume, which is wrapped a rectangular cloth around the body and tied a belt called Kera. Then, it is worn with a jacket called Tego and a blouse called Wongu. ようやく行くことができました🙋‍♀️「まほろば」らーめんさん🍜まず、このお店のネーミングが秀逸です👍「まほろば」とは、古語で「素晴らしい場所」という意味☘このとても美しい日本語を名前にしたお店の感性と心意気にリスペクトです🙏昨夜の開店後、わりと早い時間に行きましたが、すでに満席でした。でも回転が早いのですぐに席に案内してもらえたし、麺が出てくるのも早かったです😊私は「泡白湯」、一緒に行った家族は「鶏醤油＋味玉」をいただきました。泡白湯は、味が奥深くてクリーミーですが濃厚過ぎず、余韻は意外とあっさりしています🖐 塩分も強すぎないのでヘルシーですね。鶏醤油の方もスープだけ少しいただきましたが、まろやかでやさしい味でした。国内産小麦を使っていて細麺なので硬くなく、女性でも食べやすいと思います。店内も広くて明るく、接客も感じが良いし、お気に入りのお店になりました❗️次は違う麺を食べてみたいです😍 Ramen shop “Mahoroba“ in Fukui City. We visited the festival with three English teachers. They enjoyed the music, the unique dance and food. (2'54")今週末は恒例の「勝山左義長まつり」が行われますね。福井県勝山市で三百年の伝統を誇る早春の風物詩です。この動画は以前、県内でALT（語学指導助手）を務めていた外国人たちと一緒に訪れた時のものです。各町内に建てられた櫓の上で、赤い長襦袢姿の大人や子どもが笛や三味線、鉦の軽快なリズムとお囃子に合わせ、独特の仕草で踊る姿はここでしか見られないユニークなもの。鮮やかな色短冊に彩られた通りには露店もたくさん並んで、多くの人で埋め尽くされます。フィナーレは弁天緑地で夜空を焦がす「どんど焼き」。今年の五穀豊穣を祈願します。(2'54"）

Hongan Shozu spring in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, is designated as a national natural treasure as the habitat of a threatened species, three-spined stickleback. You can watch the tiny fish swimming there. The fish can't live in the water with just a little household sewage.

The New Year's first hammer forging

ちょっと遅くなりましたが、今年の元旦に行われた行事のご紹介です🎍古式鍛錬「初打（はつうち）」は、越前打刃物の工房「タケフナイフビレッジ」で毎年元旦の午前0時から行われる儀式🙏フォトコンテストも実施されているんですよ📸古式装束に身を包んだ鍛冶職人が、伝統的な技法で刃物を鍛えます。火のそばに座っている親方格の職人を「横座」、立って柄の長い槌を振り下ろしている二人を「相方」といいます。相槌を打つ、という言葉はここから生まれました🤔会場には伝統工芸アイドルグループ「さくらいと」のメンバーも来ていました🌸🌸🌸 The New Year’s first hammer forging in old style at TAKEFU KNIFE VILLAGE is annually held at midnight on January 1st, 2020. 昨日1月25日は「天神講」でした。我が家でも例年通り、天神様の掛け軸の前にお酒と焼きガレイをお供えしました🐟天神講は、福井県や富山県、長野県、新潟県などで続いている風習です。25日というのは、道真公の命日にちなんでいるとか🤔そしてカレイは道真公の好物であったそうです。＊諸説あります。 Traditional custom in Fukui called “Tenjinko”.
