I am off work, I am home, I am in pj's with a Sally nightmare before Christmas Santa hat on. The holiday pay was worth it but boy do I not like working christmas eve

Dude, tell me about it. I remember working on Christmas Eve as a teenager, and I had to keep reminding myself the pay was worth it. I still don’t know if the pay actually was worth it.

Since my family does stuff on Christmas Eve too, I don’t really like to work on that day if I can get away with it.

The rise of the 'half-tourist' who combines work with a change of scene

Covid-19 has accelerated the decline of the office, but not everyone wants to work from home. We look at travel firms catering to the growing number of nomadic workers

This concept has also been referred to as the “remote work” tourist, or the encouragement of such travel as “remote work programs”. They typically attempt to draw in high-income tourist demographics. 

The purpose of encouraging this type of incoming traveller is a creative approach to supplement tourism income lost due to the pandemic, while reducing risks of importing new Covid cases to the destination. 

For example: One high-income visitor staying at a destination for 6-months, will contribute to local economic development at a rate that is the potential equivalent of 24 visitors or more.  Each visitor arrival increases the risk of importing Covid, even when pre-testing measures and/or quarantine-upon-arrival measures are in place.
