O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), dir. Joel and Ethan Coen
Too Much (prod. Lena Dunham).
Her long-awaited, semi-autobiographical spiritual Netflix series follow-up to the acclaimed Girls once mines Dunham's personal experiences—this time in her thirties, living in London after meeting and marrying her English musician husband, Luis Felber (also co-creator). Standing in for the real-life couple are the hilarious Megan Stalter and ultracool Will Sharpe as their suitable stand-ins as they fictionalize their whirlwind romance in the tradition of classic British romantic comedies. Its dramedy setup is full of red flags and clear courtship roadblocks, yet it builds an endearingly intimate relationship dynamic between the two. What's most refreshing to see about Too Much is its clear evolution of Dunham's storytelling, including a much more diverse supporting cast of characters with their own backgrounds that get enough focus across ten episodes.

Love the color grading and lighting in this one. I am also excited when I found out Ari Wegner is the cinematographer here (she worked in The Power of the Dog and Zola). Also wlw mystery, yes!
