When I kept dream diaries, I wasn't aware I was practicing writing, only that I was recording something I didn't want to forget.

When I learned to distill days into sentences, I didn't know I was refining my writing- I was just trying to get it over and done with quicker, so I could move on with my day. But not every trip to the store required detail, nor every time I brushed my teeth, and so, I learned restraint.

When I rewrote passages in a furious frenzy, I didn't know I was learning to edit. I thought I was self-sabotaging, because if I never finished that first chapter, I would never have to complete the novel. Still, it's a funny trick I've found- I never seem to suffer writer's block.

To this day, I never practise writing. Writing practise was always something I put aside for another day- for when my first novel was finished, or homework was written. And yet, I look back, and realise I practised often- every single day of my life.

Quick fic- Kateva rainy day

ok this is probably a huge cliche and has been done a thousand times but it just started raining where I am so I blurted a little fic of my favourite ship (maybe only second to checkateva!) Anyways, hope you like :)

“it looks like it’s coming down hard, I really think you should stay here for the night” Eva suggested, cuddling up to Kate as they looked out at the storm brewing.

“I’m sure it’ll be fine, besides I’m tough, a little rain won’t hurt me” Kate chuckled back.

“Yea cause last time went so well, I had to survive a whole week without you at school cause you thought you were too hardcore for a raincoat and ended up with the flu” Eva retorted.

Cue a massive thunder clap and another heavy downpour from the greying clouds, and a judgy look from Eva.

“Ok fineee, the weather is clearly telling me to stayyy” Kate fake-whined as she looked back at Eva, who was trying to hide how pleased she was to spend a couple more hours with her girlfriend, and was secretly hoping maybe even the night..

“Do you have any snacks?” Kate broke her from her thoughts as she scrambled on the couch to get up, but was quickly pulled back into a koala hug by her surprisingly strong and annoyingly taller gf.

“Hey!” Kate yelped, pretending she wasn’t feeling a rush of excitement and blush as she was crush-hugged by her favourite person, feigning a scowl as Eva laughed at her control.

No snacks were ever acquired, much to the dismay of Kate, but she was content to give them up if it meant staying in the warm bed snuggled up with Eva.

INTERNAL THOUGHTS: PICTURE PROMPTS

I had a (hopefully) fun idea! Often, my fanfiction works are heavily inspired by pictures of the drivers I see on social media. But really, there are just too many good photos to write full length fics about them all. Therefore, I will occassionally pick out a photo (you can send in ones you find interesting too ofc) and I will write a short fic based on what I see/what that picture makes me feel

Since I realise this idea might seem vague to people, there is an example beloowww, please remember to feel free to send me pics via DM, or vague description of said pic or a link via Anon messaging! (i'm sure i'll be able to decipher what pic you mean like 99% of the time xD)

The Hug (Charles&Daniel)

warnings: mentions of Jules and Anthoine. Not very happy, but not quit sad either I suppose. Just keep that in mind.

Charles sees Daniel walking over to him once he's out of the car, cap firmly on his head instead of his helmet now. The Aussie has a smile on his lips that doesn't quite reach his eyes, and holds out a hand to the young Ferrari driver.

"Well done, you really deserved that one." he praises when Charles clasps his palm and offers him a tentative smile in return. "I know the circumstances are.... shit." Daniel continues, his eyes clouding with sadness as he seems to be angry with himself for the lack of better descriptive words. Charles sighs.

"It is shit." he agrees, the English words suddenly feeling heavy in his mouths, as if he has never quite spoken the language before. He lowers his eyes momentarily but does not let go of Daniel's hand. Right now, it might very well be the only thing grounding him. Daniel sighs, seems to want to speak again, but then wordlessly pulls Charles into a hug instead.

Charles hugs back and closes his eyes, the shouts of the mechanics and fans and the clicks of the cameras around them suddenly feeling far away. He feels tears well up in his eyes and tenses, hands ever so slightly curling more strongly in the fabric of Daniel's racesuit. He wills the tears away quickly, does not want to be filmed crying even though he has all the right to right now. They all have.

Daniels seems to notice the change in Charles posture, and pulls back a little to look at him. The Aussie's dark brown eyes are familiar to Charles by now, and they calm him. He sees all the emotions he feels mirrored in Daniel's eyes. The loss, the pain, the hurt, the guilt... But then Daniel blinks once, and a mask seems to fall over them.

"You won for him today. For all of them." he speaks, voice rough and sounding older than he really is. Charles wants nothing more than to hug the Aussie again, than to just fucking cry in Daniel's arms until the pressure in his chest has disappeared. But he doesn't.

Instead, Charles straightens up and squares his shoulder. Daniel gives him one last nod, and then turns and disappears into the crowd while Charles is whisked away for more interviews, and then his first podium standing on that top step.

He won for them today. For Jules, for Anthoine and for his father. They were looking down on him now, and he would make them proud. Time and time again.

school writing excerpt

today (06/02/20) in literature, we were asked to do a quick write (ten minutes) exercise. we had to create a character description on someone who owned an article of clothing on a rack. i chose a felt hat and this is what i came up with:

Christopher Montgomery was a secluded man. He wasn’t the type to raise his voice nor did he feel the need to. 

Every morning he would take the 7:46am train and start his twenty seven minute commute into the city. Christopher would pull out a paperback from his briefcase. And yes, he didn’t dog-ear his pages and he didn’t fold the left page under the right. Christopher’s shoes were always shiny and his soles never drew dirt onto the carpet. 

At 8:13am, he would walk promptly from the station and around the corner. The Law Firm was only an eight-minute walk if he was determined and took a bit longer if he missed his coffee that morning at home.

Today, he had his coffee and arrived at the Firm’s reception at 8:21am. Abigail, the receptionist, would always say hello and he would always give her an affirmative nod. He would always handed over his coat and hat. Today was no different.

Christopher Montgomery was a secluded man, but today he raised his voice.

In Hungary we receive the presents on Christmas Eve. The Christmas tree is decorated in the afternoon and then the we eat dinner. We eat fish, potato salad, sometimes chicken. There’s also lots of cakes and cookies. Jesus comes to bring the presents. We light candles, open the presents and spend time together.

Drabble: “Please don’t cry. I can’t stand to see you cry.”

Billy Hargrove x Reader

“Okay Y/N, you can look now.” His voice was filled with an impatience and anticipation that elated my heart.

Billy had been very rarely excited or happy lately so I wanted to savour this moment. Savour the feeling of his agitated fingers gripping my hips and his mouth moving against my hair as he spoke.

“Not yet.” My hair tickled the sides of my face as I shook my head, my hands still clamped over my eyes.

“What do you mean not yet?” He chuckled as his hands flew from my hips to grab my wrists, only halfheartedly trying to make me open my eyes. I started laughing and it became easier for him to spin me around to face him.

I allowed him to pull my hands away but still kept my eyelids tightly closed as he ghosted his fingertips from my brows to my jawline and I lifted my chin slightly, letting the warmth of the sun soak into my pores.

“I’m living in the moment Billy.”

“That’s great baby, but can you live in the moment with your eyes open?” I could hear his smile.

I turned back flushed against Billy’s chest and blinked a few times to allow my pupils to react to the harsh sunlight. The first thing I met was a blue so bright it could rival Billy’s eyes.

“Billy-” I stuttered as my breath caught in my throat and he appeared in front of me in an instant to catch the first few tears.

“Y/N, what’s wrong?” His face etched with concern as he brushed his thumbs across my cheekbones. “Please don’t cry. I can’t stand to see you cry.”

“They’re happy tears Billy, I’m so happy.” I smiled, admiring his beauty through my blurred vision. “I just- I can’t believe it’s taken me 18 years to get out of that town to see another part of the world, but I’m so glad it’s with you, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love you so much.”

He let go of the breath he’d been holding, releasing all the worries he’d carried with him from Hawkins.

“I love you too Y/N.” He whispered still cradling my face in his hands, “This is it now, no Hawkins and no monsters; just you, me and California.”

“Sounds perfect.”
