Happy Sunday! I got given a free aloe vera plant this week (I picked the smallest one there and it’s so cute). Don’t forget to water your plants, if you have any.
Havoc Town — Episode 2 - Episode 4: surprise, surprise, it’s another vampire podcast on my list. This audio drama is great though, and I’m very much enjoying it. The vampires are very creatively described and it’s also kind-of leaning into zombie movie vibes, which isn’t common enough in audio dramas. The characters and plot are so interesting and well-paced, and even though I saw the scene with Jimbo coming, it was horrible to wait for and hear. Considering there’s a folklore expert added to the plot as well, this show is great for fans of Buffy. 💀
Up In Smoke — 1. The Fire: it’s meant to look like a true-crime drama, but it’s also not a supernatural horror, so that’s already surprising. This is a BBC podcast, and it’s giving off very similar vibes to the average police procedural/mystery tv series. A teenage boy dies in a fire, a music teacher is arrested, one journalist loses her career and another journalist gets famous. But who really started the fire, and why? 🏚️
Wrong Station — 45 - Aquarium: there’s no way I wasn’t going to listen to this episode. I had so many nightmares of large, scary deep-sea creatures as a kid, and I was delighted to listen to the POV of someone similar. I still think the first episode of Wrong Station is the best, but there was a lot of rising tension in this episode. The description of the ‘Darkfish’ is unsettling and memorable, and the conclusion to the episode is disturbing in a way you probably won’t expect. If you’ve ever been scared of deep water, this might entertain you. 📻
@jq37’s Absolutely No Adventures — S2E5 - S2E6: I’m finally up to date with this and it’s such a treat. Sig, Happy and Bea deal with Sterling in a pretty clever way, and the body-swap fiasco was fun! The cast can do entertaining impressions of each other and it was interesting seeing how some of the cultural differences can add a bit of frustration to Happy and Sig’s friendship. Mostly, it’s nice to listen to a show where the characters are such good, patient people. 🎂
Hearthbound — Episode 7: Cassandra: we get to meet the prophet who nobody believes!! Of course, this being Hearthbound, Odessa believed her. As much as I want Odessa to get home to her wife, I enjoyed the obstacles this episode and the scene of Cassandra reading Odessa’s coffee. I’m looking forward to the next song and I can’t wait for this podcast’s (hopefully, probably) happy ending. 🕯️
