Oh yeah I wrote this back in October but forgot about it because of Inktober tailstober so here.
Story: the three cubs (2)
Characters: Brutus and Tikaa
Word count: 343
It had been several days, he didn't know how many, seeming to have lost his sense of time.
“Well, it doesn't matter much does it?” Brutus thought glumly to himself, as he trudged his way through the deep snow.
“The longer I'm gone without then finding me, the less likely it is that they'll find me”
There was a moment of silence as Brutus stood still thinking, then he caught a sound coming closer, fast.
Sounded like… running?
“NO!”
He wiped around frantically hoping he was roung. But when he turned… he was right.
Tikaa running across the snow, with a very determined but still over-joyed expression.
He could feel the white the cold creeping in on him.
“No no no” he wanted to scream, he wanted to tell Tikaa to run away to turn back and leave him, forgot about him to go take care of Grace for him.
But when he opened his mouth there was no scream, no, not even a word of any sort.
A deep threatening and hungry growl, his vision blurred, white around the edges followed by the heavy wet foam coming from his mouth. He could feel his fur brisling, he couldn't do this and yet he had no choice.
Tikaa stopped, a little weary a couple of feet away, and against his will Brutus began to slowly walk closer.
Somewhere in the back of his mind Brutus registered… wings on Tikaa. But the thought immediately left his mind.
Tikaa lowered his head slightly “Brutus…” he started but hesitated, Brutus could feel his body tenseing ready to lunge. His growling intensified and Tikaa’s head shot up just as Brutus launched, his feet left the ground internally screaming helpless he continued through the air. The world seemed to slow down.
Then just in time something hit him, throwing him back and onto the ground, knocking him back into his own free will. When he looked up Tikaa stood over him, worried as he always was over his smaller sibling rather than himself. With wings, dragon wings.
