@aleciosun gifted me this gorgeous family photo of our favorite trigger-happy Decepti-squad, redone in the style of WWIIformers!

Soundwave is a Tonschreiber, a military-grade magnetic tape recorder used by the Wehrmacht in WWII.  It was a key component of the German Radio Monitoring Service for recording and analyzing enemy radio communications. The cassetebots are the magnetic-tape reels.

And for a little extra, here's a couple of the brainstorming sketches:

@aleciosun suggested having Soundwave's chest-plate come off as that's how it can work with an actual Tonschreiber, but I preferred it attached so that idea was scrapped.

Originally, the coloring was a little darker/duller. I guess if you wanted a grittier, more war-film looking soundwave, this is the palette to go with.

I particularly love this one where the magnetic tape is threaded through Soundwave's hip. It's so cute! It almost looks like he's wearing suspenders.

Art from @aleciosun for ch 10 of my fic. I think I have an unhealthy addiction to these commissions. It's the artist's fault for always going above and beyond EVERY TIME.

I really love how Starscream's legs come out in these pieces. In an earlier one, it kinda looked like he was wearing red go-go boots (totally within his character) but now it kinda looks like he's wearing red bell-bottoms with blue pointed-tie cuban heels from the seventies (also completely within character)

Also if you're wondering, no, that's not actually Megatron. Starscream is just having PTSD attack.

Also I recently watched a Russian movie called "White Tiger", the whole thing is free on Youtube. It's about a mysterious Tiger tank that seems to appear out of nowhere, decimate the Russian forces, and then disappear without a trace. It's a great movie that doesn't end the way you think, but it's even more fun if you watch it and pretend that the tank is secretly a transformer in hiding. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment.

My favorite scene is at 1:34:43 . "He'll wait twenty years, fifty, maybe a hundred, and then he'll crawl out." still gives me chills.

I wanted to try and stick to his race-car/Ferrari roots which ended up working since there was one car Ferrari made in 1940:

the Auto-Avio 815.

Been a while since I posted some WWIIformers AU designs, but @aleciosun came through with two bangers!

First up: Shockwave! Alt-mode: A German Krupp K5 railway gun

It was actually a bit tricky for Shockwave since I really wanted to find something that spoke to his whole "one arm is a gun" look. I initially was going to have him be the Gustav gun, but that thing was so stupidly massive that it felt more appropriate if a bigger mech had it. Fortunately, there were plenty of smaller rail-guns that were used by the Germans, they were built on rail-cars to be easy to transport.

Okay guys, hear me out...

British Ratchet.

His alt-mode is a British ambulance that was used in London to help with air-raid casualties. It seems fitting he'd hang back and help out with the Blitz rescues while fixing up bots as well.
