this isn’t so much a “bad ship” as it is just a ship that amuses and baffles me simply by existing, but let’s go for wwx/jzx, 44
Jin Zixuan, gasping and trembling, clung to Wei Wuxian in a manner that would have been almost cute, if it had been literally anyone else in the world doing it. Well, anyone except the Wens. Well, anyone except the Wens, except that cute Wen Qionlin kid who was, indeed, kinda cute by default.
The point being, Jin Zixuan looked really pathetic, and also somewhat cute. Two things Wei Wuxian was discovering thanks to the Wens’ brilliant idea of forcing people from different sects to share rooms, under the fear that they would get plotting otherwise. Which was exactly what Wei Wuxian would have done if he had had any chance of being alone with Jiang Cheng, sure, but it was still very rude of the Wens to make assumptions like that.
“There, there,” Wei Wuxian said, patting Jin Zixuan’s shoulder a little harder than he’d meant to, just because he wasn’t used to being the one comforting others.
“Had a dream,” Jin Zixuan gasped, almost sobbing. “Awful, so awful… I was getting married…”
“Oh yeah?” Wei Wuxian replied, instantly forgetting any pity he’d felt up until that point. “And to who exactly?”
“Father was marrying me off to Wen Chao to stay in the good graces of Wen zongzhu.”
Fine, that was a pretty awful thing to dream about.
“Then it got worse,” Jin Zixuan mumbled. “So much worse. There was a turtle, and it stomped on Wen Chao just before we could take our bows.”
“Must have been a big turtle.”
“Huge. And Father said that I had to marry someone, because the party and the robes had cost so much money…”
“Yeah, that does sound like something your dad would say.”
“So they grabbed someone at random, and that’s who I married,” Jin Zixuan sighed pathetically. “It was the worst, it was awful…”
Wei Wuxian patted his shoulder again, a little more gently this time. He was getting the hang of that comforting thing now, and it wasn’t so hard in the end. Of course that wasn’t a surprise. Wei Wuxian was always pretty great at everything he did.
“Ok, so who did they make you marry in your dream?”
“They made me marry Wei Ying,” Jin Zixuan whined, making a disgusted grimace. “And he kissed me, very badly, and then he turned into a donkey, and then…”
But the rest of the dream was to be lost to posterity because Wei Wuxian had violently grabbed Jin Zixuan’s pillow and used it to attempt murder until the Wens, alerted by the noise, came to see what was going on and rescued Jin Zixuan.
