The missing X-Planes - Republic XF-103 Supersonic Interceptor Mockup from 1953 🎥 VIDEO: https://youtu.be/PDKHGo77DmU 📷 HD IMAGE: https://dronescapes.video/XF103
X-Planes are cool? Right? JHI’s X-4 “Torch” engine experienced a catastrophic engine on Year 1 Day 176 during an attempt at breaking the Kármán line.
Obrod “Brods” Kerman stated, “One minute you’re ascending at almost 200 miles an hour and next you’re stumbling your way back to the surface without a runway nearby.” Obrod later ejected less than 500 feet in the air due to no viable landing site.
I figured I should introduce myself properly on here. My name is Lyra and this is my main modded Kerbal Space Program save. My current 2 goals right now are initial crewed milestones. (First orbit, Kármán line, etc) and a Duna flyby, (I play with Kerbal Construction time so it takes a while to build things.) if you have any questions feel free to ask!
I use way too many mods, but the primary ones are all of,
Parts: All Near Future Technologies, AirplanePlus, Restock and Restock+, Space Station Parts Expansion, Cryo Tanks and Engines
Visuals: Scatterer, Parallax 2.0, a wonky TUFX config, Texture Replacer
Gameplay: Outer Planets Mod, 2.5x scale, Kerbalism, Crew Rest & Recovery, FMRS, MechJeb 2, SCANsat, Unkerballed Start, Stategia, Mandatory RCS, Final Frontier
Quality of Life: Astrogator, Better Time Warp, Chatterer, Conform Decals, Easy Vessel Switch, KRASH, RCS Build Aid, Persistent Thrust, Trajectories, TRP Hire, Tweakscale, Waypoint Manager.
Ryan X-13 Vertijet
The Ryan X-13 Vertijet grew from an in-house Ryan study to see if the Ryan FR-1 Fireball could be modified for vertical takeoff. This was expanded on by the US Navy who were interested in operating aircraft from submarines. In 1953, the US Air Force awarded Ryan a contract for the X-13.
The first of two X-13s first flew on 10 December 1955. It was fitted with a temporary conventional undercarriage to enable it to take off horizontally and test flight characteristics. In flight transitions from horizontal to vertical and back again were made. The undercarriage was then replaced with one under the tail and vertical take offs were made.
Once the feasibility of the vertical take off and change to horizontal flight was demonstrated, the X-13 was tested from its intended operational launch platform, a truck mounted vertical trailer. This also proved successful and the versatility of the X-13 was demonstrated by taking off, crossing the Potomac River and landing at the Pentagon.
Despite the successful tests, the USAF did not have a requirement for such an aircraft and discontinued the tests on 30 September 1957.

Valkyrie- she is so gorgeous! 54 years ago February 4th 1969 was her last flight. She took off from Edwards Air Force Base,CA and flew to the National Airport Museum in Dayton Ohio for her retirement. Over the next few days I'll be posting a lot more about her. Out of, all the aircraft in history that I've studied. From the Wright flyer to the F-35, J20, Su 57 and of course the one that is the most badass ass of all thee F-22 Raptor! The Xb70 valkyrie has been my favorite I started actively researching aircraft at the age of six, 1974. I would dream daily of seeing her. As of yet I've never seen her in person. That all changes in about 2 months, I'll be seeing her for the first time in her new birth and I am very excited. I've been by the museum three times, but I was only on the East Coast for family emergencies! I grew up and have lived my life on the west coast, in Seattle! Being an aviation historian, has been a fun lifelong Pursuit, full of passion! Valkyrie is truly the most beautiful aircraft I've ever laid eyes on!
