i’m going to say something so self indulgent. so predictable. but

ruben pallister is built for primal play. he is massive and muscular but in a way that looks strong, not jacked. he’s intense and scary and triggers fight or flight in every person he meets. he has the lowest rumbling voice i’ve ever heard in a character. he quite literally growls and grunts and snarls, like it’s easy to put those words into fics and understand what they mean but ruben genuinely embodies them. i’ve never heard anything like his voice before. he’s confident to the point of cockiness sometimes, sure in his movements and actions. he’s protective and possessive. he’s animalistic. with all those gravelly noises he makes, he sounds like an animal. when he gets that crazed, manic look in his eyes, he looks like an animal. he’s fast. he chases niall through a neighborhood in the middle of the night and when he loses sight of him, he yells into the darkness about how he can hear niall as he tracks and hunts him down to where niall’s hiding and only stops because a little old lady essentially put a leash on him

idk he’s got predator written all over him like i’m sorry but how am i supposed to not twirl my hair about it

okay so this is really late but happy 20th birthday to my favoritest game in the world, mother 3!!!

take this rushed art as well as some yappery about why i like the game :3

okay now for the yappery, under the cut

mother 3 has essentially stuck with me through some of the best and worst parts of my life. i first got into it through both a very close friend of mine as well as my sister, and the two convinced me to play the game on my own even though i was reluctant. when i did, i was genuinely astounded.

playing this game helped me appreciate the little things around me more, since at its core it pushes you to love and grow and cherish the nature around you. it's a game thats funny and heartbreaking and beautiful and wonderous. on top of the absolutely amazing character writing is the slept-on soundtrack, which is basically a love letter to bassists and candy for your ears. holy peak.

i think discovering this game during my high school years has let me have a thing that's just mine, since outside of the internet it's a very niche game in my area. being able to connect with other people online and make art and fanfiction about my blorbos has been amazing, and in my irl social circle it's an unpopular thing that i yap about to my friends who are willing to listen. alongside this, last year during a family emergency, this game was basically my one comfort and a way of just letting the world melt away around me when i needed it to.

as much as i could complain about it not being localized, which does indeed suck, i think it's also important to step back and recognize the beauty that's already here and has become accessible through the fan translation. the more direct translations from the original japanese iteration just makes the game feel so much more rich and genuine and like it's speaking directly to the player about whatever kind of life struggles they may be dealing with at that moment.

i could talk a lot more about it but i think that's pretty much all of the brain power i have right now. happy birthday to the game that has emptied my wallet, made me a better writer and artist, and helped me meet so many new amazing people :] okay beery out

Hi! So I found your salt and pepper fic and it became my new reason to live. Like, I'm not joking when I say it made my entire day and cured my depression. The tension, the yearning! Ugh! I just eat that shit up! 😩

I also can't wait for the smut but! ☝️I also hope that Leon will confront reader's mother and gives her a piece of his mind at some point!

I can imagine him standing there (or he witnesses unintentionally) while reader gets berated by her mother until she says something that makes him snap and he stands up and defends reader. And reader is so flabbergasted because no one has ever really stood up for her and she does not know how to react. At all. Until Leon takes her hand and takes her away. And it, like, solidifies something in her. Because no one has ever been angry on her behalf (maybe not since her brother? Idk what kknd of relationship she had with him)

Anyways! Keep up the good work, we all can't wait for the next chapter! Ily 🩷

Yeah, I would like to see Leon stand up for the reader in front of her mother and give her a piece of his mind but I think in terms of showing growth for the reader, I would like to see her stand up for herself. I have paid attention to her growth throughout the entire series, and I hope that it's evident that you can see her trying and attempting to stand up for herself when she argues with her mother, which maybe is something originally she may have not done before, but she gives in eventually- she's just not completely there yet.

I'm gonna have to find a good balance between the two, because I don't want Leon to become overbearing and too protective which is what I've been avoiding the whole time writing this series, and honestly, I'm surprised people say that's what they like most about this. But I think he would step in if needed.

He has been so supportive and done a lot to make her feel comfortable working for him, and I'm glad people noticed that he has encouraged this growth, because that is originally what I based this series off of, not the idea of Leon not 'fixing' someone but his kind and gentle presence helping someone's growth.

But yeah, I'm going to attempt to find a good balance between the two, of the reader standing up for herself and Leon really seeing the degrading things that her parents say to her, to understand where her insecurities lay.

I also need Leon to find out her brother died, because he is still totally unaware of that lol.

Because Octavian is from the line of Augustus Ceaser, and Augustus claimed that Aeneas was his ancestor, and Aeneas was related to the Trojans (partly) which makes Cassandra Octavian's ancestor.
