If I'm being honest, I like these AUs more when it's a threat rather than something that actually happens. Expanding on this headcanon basically: do you know how hilarious it would be for the Bats to realize there's a non-zero (possibly even 50/50) chance that Damian would just be snatched up by some other family?
Dick and Kori had broken up years ago, yet Dick still hears from time to time that Kori wishes Damian could stay with her for the weekend. "Just to catch up," she'd say. Dick fell for it one time, only to have to beg Kory to give Damian back because he's been there for a month (and COUNTING if Damian didn't feel bad at Dick's sobbing face through the ring door camera. Kori found it funny).
Tim can't even bring himself to not be hostile or hide his horrified looks whenever young justice starts to talk about Damian positively - because he knows where this goes. He went through it, for fucks sake. Soon enough, they'd try to worm their way as honorary siblings towards Damian and become way closer to him than he is, even though he's been hanging out with him every other day and trying to appease him so why the hell is he still closer to Steph, this is so unfair, you're not even adopted by Bruce-!!!!
"You're all too possessive," Barbara would cringe at them.
"Roy said he'd be a good brother to Lian," Jason would lament. "What does that even mean? What is he hinting at?"
