avelera: FYI guys, GRRM actually bitched at the...
It’s on Amazon so I think I will watch it at some point
I’ve found it really rewarding. The first season was a bit rough going for me at first because the main leads are one woman and two men - and though the woman is amazing and I was a little “??” on some of the male character stuff. But the one storyline turns out super cool in a way I quite liked. And the story grows/shifts toward centering more and more female characters.
All the women are fascinating and distinct from each other and allowed to have their own moral/personal investments. They get to be difficult and complicated!! They get to disagree with each other! They’re written to be truly part of the... human story of struggle, loss, and hope, not appendages to it. And all the main female characters are women of color.
Bobbie Draper alone is worth the price of admission. And Chrisjen Avasarala. And Naomi. And Drummer. And Anna, who’s canon lesbian.
A lot of the male characters are really well written, interesting, and diverse too.
