My husband is a print curator and happened to pull out this print to show me, knowing I like the time period. It's a Gavarni stone lithograph!

(SHRIEK!) Tell him thank you for sharing this!! :D I know that "Les Invalides du Sentiment" series is older, more bitter Gavarni, when his art took a somewhat darker turn, and it looks like this print is from 1853 originally.

I looked up the source of the quote, the poet Évariste de Parny: "It's over, I stopped pleasing."
