I am curious: you said Fellby got a green soul and healing magic and Swabby and Grillby both got yellow souls? What can they do?

You mean magic vise? Well…

Yellow magic, at least in our universe, is the magic of justice but also of control. The JUDGE spell is a low-level yellow-magic spell both Swabby and Grillby can cast. That is the spell that lets a monster see the LOVE of an other monster.

Like the CHECK spell (green magic) lets you sense HP, the JUDGE spell (yellow magic) lets you see LOVE, ATK and DEF. (the flavor text pops up always) Both spells have their limits thou (Fellby can’t see Grillby’s HP because it’s just to high and Swabby can’t see Grillby’s LOVE because it’s to high.)

Yellow magic in general (at least, again, in our universe) works as a very versatile magic, it mostly revolves around control of something.

Grillby mostly uses it to control himself and his flames. He got a very very good control, is able to shift his flames up and down the spectrum very easily (well downwards is hard for him as long as the flames are connected to him but the little flame-animals he can make are no problem for him), he can control very easily how much damage he deals, he can shape his flames freely and keep controlling them even if they left his body (aka the little flame-birds and stuff he can make) He can still feel what happens to his flame-constructs but doesn’t take damage or hurt when they are destroyed. A lot of his control also is used to keep him sane and in control over his LOVE. (but you all saw how it can slip a bit when fighting.) In fact if Grillby had just a tiny bit weaker soul and will, he would have either died in the war or would have raged until he burned out and died too. So. Yeah. Good thing he has a yellow soul huh?

Swabby on the other hand got other talents with his magic. Some of his magic is a spoiler so we will talk about it when it gets relevant. But he uses his magic for a lot of other stuff. He doesn’t have much heat but for a yellow flame he got a lot of magic and he can use it very efficient. (Fellby and Grillby got a lot more due to their LOVE and in case of Fellby because of his heritage but if they were all on one Level Swabby would have more than them) Also Swabby did had a formal education, something Fellby and Grillby are lacking, and knows some neat things to do with magic and how to use it properly. He uses his magic to make himself faster and speed up his reflexes and while he isn’t a fighter he can do some distractions with his flames too (like the bright light flame ball he made to break Gasters concentration).Like I said he got other talents too and he in fact uses most of his magic for that specific kind of yellow magic. He mostly taught this kind of magic to himself and at least in the Underground it’s a pretty unique kind of magic. There is only one soul alive that knows about it and even then they don’t know the full extent of that kind of magic. It’s not a bad kind of magic, just unique, btw.

It will be a small plot point later on. You just have to have a tiny bit of patience ;)

Jamie: “They’re...as lethal as I need them to be. I can make them anywhere between a tiny punch to, well... Yeah. (I prefer nonlethal, for obvious reasons.)”
