[Side note: in this translation, instead of an old lady relating the parable about the lovebirds, it’s “The aunts who lived around us.”]

[Tidus, flashback to his childhood in Zanarkand, remembers: “After my old father died my mother was in low spirit gradually.” In the flashback, Auron is lurking on the dock next to Tidus’ houseboat, except that the hazy shadows meant to suggest a memory completely obscure him from view. Auron says, “How everything goes?” Bitty Tidus shouts: “It’s not your business!” Auron: “If that guy died, it will become troublesome.” Tidus says: “Don’t say my mother will die!”]

The translation is perfectly fine here. In fact, despite my excerpting a few garbled exchanges, it’s pretty good during much of the Guadosalam and on stretch.

 I’m just noticing once again that this translation is more blunt than the official dub. (“I must sound so stupid.” “I don’t think so.” “How embarrassing.”)

I think she means that literally rather than metaphorically.
