Day 12 for #slovakyogis #yogachallenge #yoganapohodu with @mariandivilek. This week it's strength, and today's #asana is #cranepose. This is a favourite of mine. I was teaching it, along with its close relative #crowpose, in my mixed ability class on Wednesday and we had the conversation about friction. "It's hard because my knees keep slipping! It my slippery clothes". It's true it is easier skin on skin, but this is a relatively advanced pose - it's supposed to be difficult! Ultimately it's not about friction though, as the next step is pushing up into a #handstand and the knees come away from the arms so there should be light contact and the bulk of the work is happening in your arms, shoulders, and core, with your legs working on keeping a controlled centre of gravity. I'm not there yet, but that's what I'm working towards.
