YOGA PERIGOSA
Let’s talk about something no one really warns you about before your first yoga class—yoga farts. Awkward? Maybe. Normal? Absolutely.
Certain yoga poses gently compress the abdomen, shift internal pressure, and relax muscles that are usually tense. When that happens, trapped gas can escape. It’s not a sign you’re doing yoga wrong—it’s actually a sign your body is relaxing and moving as it should.
Understanding why this happens can help reduce embarrassment and anxiety, especially for beginners. With a few mindful adjustments, breathing techniques, and timing tips, you can feel more confident on the mat and focus on what yoga is really about: awareness, balance, and self-acceptance.
If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about this, you’re definitely not alone. This guide breaks it all down in a calm, judgment-free way:

If you’ve ever let out an unexpected fart during yoga class, you’re definitely not alone. In fact, it’s one of the most common (and natural!) things that can happen on the mat. Certain yoga poses help release trapped air, improve digestion, and stimulate your gut—so it makes sense that a little gas might escape in the process.
Instead of feeling embarrassed, think of it as a sign that your body is working exactly as it should. Yoga isn’t about perfection; it’s about connection, release, and flow. And sometimes that release is physical in ways we don’t expect!

I HAVE BUSOM TOMORROW!!!
I was just looking around for monologues and I found this one by Gabriel Davis:
http://www.monologuegenie.com/yoga-fart-monologue.html
It sounded so me and made me laugh, and Tessa Ostvig's interpretation was brilliant. It makes me think you can be completely and unapologetically 100% yourself without feeling embarrassed, and that is a joy of life to be FREE to do that. I think I've found my pre-prepared piece for December (the audition for BUSOM's Moby Dick! The Musical production in March), so yay.
When I finished reading it, I also immediately thought that agirlnamedally and arielerinkaplan should read this, as they are much more likely to do yoga than me (I sometimes wish I did though) and I think it'd make them laugh too. I also think spaffyy, mikeylord and imaginewizard should read this :P
So with that, I'm going to continue to read Paddington and prepare for the first BUSOM (Bradford University Society of Operettas and Musicals) rehearsal of the year tomorrow evening :)
