Summer is still in sesh here. RPY’s SUP yoga continues until it’s consistently too cold for SUP. We don’t know when that will happen this year (in the past few years we’ve gone until mid-October!) so stay tuned. A peek into the practice with Jaclynn 👀...all the prep that goes into handstand on a paddle board! . . In this session I had to do a lot of balancing standing poses (triangle, bound side angle) with balancing flexibility poses (monkey pose, ubhaya padangusthasana). This prep helps me stay aware of the relationship between balance, pelvis, and legs in the inversion. I find that if I’m ever lost when I’m upside down it’s usually because I can’t control my legs to the degreee I need to. The core is another area I spend a lot of time with because it connects the upper and lower body. Right at the end, before I pop up, I try to shake out any anticipation or tension.
