hey on the YOI answer post, im not anon but that looks like a source that she's a woman, not a fujoshi. is it different in japan that you just have to be a woman who writes/makes BL to be a fujoshi? cuz im super used to ppl self identifying as things as opposed to being defined as such... or is it a labeling thing rather than an identifying thing?

Fujoshi = woman aligned individual who consumes mlm fictional content.

Regardless of if you personally use the label or not, if you are a female aligned person who consumes mlm content, you fall under that label by definition. No one should FORCE it on you but that doesn't mean the definition changes? I don't identify as trans but I fully acknowledge that as someone who is gendervoid, I fall under the non-binary and trans labels. That's just how terms work.

Okay for real I see more people complaining about yoi fans being dicks to or about real skaters than I do see of it actually happening. I have no doubt it happens but it seriously doesn't happen on the scale they make it out to be.

Figure skating fans are acting like gatekeepers for new fans or semi interested individuals if they were brought along by Yuri on Ice, which seems like the dumb One Direction shit about having watched them from the beginning or only from an album years later. I have no doubt it is annoying to watch people's only point of reference for an entire sport be a twelve episode anime, but a lot of those people are really excited and are trying to understand the sport in the best way they can.

Can someone please show me proof of what people are doing instead of vaguely alluding to it, because I can't grasp the full picture without knowing what is actually happening.

Otayuri anon again. When I say I think they're a good couple I don't mean that they should make out right this very second; I just mean that, with some more development, they would make a good couple. (Better than victuuri imo. The progression of victuuri was kinda weird tbh because they never genuinely kissed except that time it was 'the spur of the moment'.) As for the age, yeah I'm 19 myself and I certainly would have reservations about dating a 16-year old (or an 18-year old dating a 1/2

15 year old) but I think in some cases it might work. I don’t really know about otabek seeing yurio as a kid; it’s been a while since I watched YOI. so your entire rationale for viktor/yuuri not seeming genuine is “they don’t kiss enough”?? even though the entire show is about the development of their relationship and the two of them realizing how much more fulfilling their lives are because they have/love each other? Like…. otabek and yurio LITERALLY have 3 minutes of screentime. it’s one single scene together. that’s it, that’s the only dialog. you have that, and then you have them giving each other a thumbs up. that’s. it.

in all honesty the more you talk about this the more it makes it seem like you don’t really know what makes a genuine relationship? It's kinda sad, but it also reflects a dangerous attitude to have towards gay relationships which are already thought of as innately lacking depth due to homophobia
