I rewatched the beginning of H4 the other day, and I lowkey forgot how absolutely unhinged YongJie is at the start. This boy was breaking and entering and spending his evenings photographing the object of his affection. While in college for medicine!

I think I forgot to give credit for his character development because while he's still my favorite worst boy ever at the end, he was an actual menece at the start.

YongJie is definitely a character who grew on me across the show and started out as a Holy Shit Child What The Fuck Is Wrong With You boy.

I did end up with a bit of a soft spot for him but the beginning is just a biiiit much. Yeah. I really think they had him go a little too far in the start before reining him in and might have wanted to start a little less unhinged.

But it does make his later devotion make more sense, honestly.

To the people who seem to have no problem with the relationship between xingsi and yongjie can y’all tell me why bc it seems like we didn’t watch the same show where:

1.) Yongjie literally stalked his brother like a creep and harassed Mu Ren.

2.) Got his brother drunk and then proceeds to sexually assault him and for the issue of it to be swept away and basically the blame of that event being placed on xingsi for no reason.

3.) yongjie giving Li Cheng terrible advice on how to woo Mu Ren which I’m still stuck on why Li Cheng would ask HIM of all people for romance advice when it’s been literally known what yongjie did to his brother 😒.

4.) videotaping the sexual assault and showing it to the whole family which is just like wtf like no why tf and don’t even try to excuse that bc that’s just messed up.

And I don’t wanna hear that “it’s just fictional, it’s not that serious” bs bc yes it is. Scenes like those got y’all delulus thinking relationships like that are okay and even if you say it’s not real so it don’t matter, there will be people out there who will genuinely believe that it’s ok for their significant other to treat them like that. 

Stop excusing toxic relationships pls it’s 2021 I thought we would be over that now.

Did really no one tell Xingsi that his dad basically had a heart attack?

I mean, wtf.

Also, YongJie... I... I mean at least the assault was apparently partially faked? He still got him drunk and still stripped him but I guess maybe there wasn't actual sex? Doesn't make it right at all. Doesn't make it right at all.

But it's the tiniest bit better? I guess?

Ugh, it's still horrifying.

It makes it so much worse that YongJie specifically did that to make Xingsi feel guilty. Because that means he knew exactly what it would do to his brother. He knew exactly how Xingsi would feel and he wanted that.

Because he knows the power of guilt.

Also, he's not taking helping Xingsi come out at all.

Yes, he made it clear that this was his fault. Yes, he's shown that he assaulted him. Yes, he was honest about it. But that's not going to help Xingsi be honest with his father. If anything, it's shown that he can't be honest considering his father needed an ambulance just from the implication.

So now, how can Xingsi come out? How can he ever tell his father that he's gay when YongJie has told his father that he's not gay, that it's all him, that Xingsi has no agency.

Ugh.

UGH.

The pain of this goddamn plot line.
