A knock on his studio door brought Namjoon’s attention away from his live. He looked back to find Yoonmi tiredly sticking her head in and smiling at him.
“I’m done with my paper,” were the first words that came out of her mouth. “Is there anything I can help with?”
The leader shook his head. “Go and take a break, Yoona. Jungkookie’s over by the gym, I’m pretty sure he’s almost done there.”
“He’s gonna be smelly,” she wrinkled her nose but left with a laugh.
“She may be seven years younger than me,” Namjoon turned back to the live, “but Yoonmi is someone I can look up to when it comes to balancing lifestyles. She wakes up at 5:30 everyday and makes breakfast for everyone. She gets ready for school, and she’s usually out the dorms by the time any of us wake up. It’s almost the end of her third year’s first semester, and she’s only missed class when we had live interviews and flew to LA.”
He chuckled and pulled out his phone, briefly looking for something. His face lit up with a smile when he found it. He covered the top part of his phone then turned it towards the live.
“She gets really excited when she gets the results of her academic works,” a chuckle escaped his chest while he showed her messages. “I’m really proud of her. She’s maintaining good grades and making top tier music while still having time for her family, friends, and herself.”
Before any exposing of Kakao accounts could be done, Namjoon tucked his phone away. “She’s doing so much better now compared to her second year. Especially now, she’s in such a good mood because we’ll get to perform again soon. Are you guys excited for the LA concert?”
TXT on Jessi’s Showterview
“Oh, before we continue, I heard one of you was close to BTS Miya ever since 2014,” Jessi leaned back and took a look at the six members. “Seri, was it you?”
“No, unnie,” Seri laughed. “I met Miya in 2017. Yeonjun oppa’s the one who knew her the longest out of the six of us.”
Jessi’s eyes widened as she looked at the eldest member before she wiggled her eyebrows and made suggestive hums at him. The TXT members laughed at Yeonjun, Beomgyu hitting him slightly.
“Did you ever like her?” Jessi asked.
“Not in that way,” Yeonjun laughed, making Jessi turn away, not believing.
“You’re just saying that because she has a boyfriend.”
Yeonjun waved his hands in negation. “I’m not! She’s like another one of my cousins, honestly. But a lot of other trainees did like her.”
“That’s true,” Soobin nodded. “I’m pretty sure a lot of idols, too.”
Jessi’s hand flew to her mouth. “Oh my god, the music show mc knows things!”
“I’m pretty sure a lot of other sunbaes and hoobaes have expressed their admiration for her,” Kai inserted.
Taehyun straightened out, “I’m also sure that at least two people in every group of the new generation of kpop have had a crush on her.”
“And who is it in TXT?”
“Oh, me for sure,” Seri raised her hand, making everyone laugh. “The second is Gyu. You should have seen him when we were trainees.”
“Yah! This is why I don’t trust you.”
ATEEZ Wooyoung on Weekly Idol ep.505
“For this one,” Yunho began as instructed by the hosts, “everyone fell in love with this once.”
Without hesitation, Wooyoung spoke up. “Miya sunbaenim?”
He was met with a silence before all the other Ateez members began laughing.
“Yah,” Yeosang hit him in the chest, making Wooyoung fake bending over in pain, “that’s just you.”
“No, it isn’t!”
“Wait,” Kwanghee laughed from across the room, “BTS Miya? Why?”
“Wooyoung has this story he always tells,” Hongjoong brought up. “It’s one of the reasons he didn’t give up on training.”
Eunhyuk lit up in his seat. “I know this! Didn’t she give you snacks and ask you to cheer up?”
“She told me to meet her on stage,” Wooyoung nodded, “and that motivated me. She was already so popular back then, so I didn’t think she’d bother talking to a trainee that she accidentally ran into at three in the morning. She’s actually really sweet, but I’m not in love with her!”
San snorted, “So why did you bring her up?”
“Yah, don’t deny,” Wooyoung stood up defensively, “we all looked up to her at some point!”
“That’s true,” Jongho nodded. “Miya sunbae is an all-rounder, and she excels in everything she does.”
“And Seonghwa hyung has the biggest crush on her,” Yunho inserted.
“I do not!” Seonghwa shook his head and turned to the camera. “Miya sunbaenim, I respect you a lot, but I don’t like you like that.”
“Tell that to the video I have of you screaming when you got sunbae’s photocard from the 7 album,” Hongjoong snickered.
“I think it’s exercise,” Seonghwa flushed and diverted the attention back to Yeosang’s title. Everyone else laughed but moved on.
Somi Instagram Live early November 2021
“Do you still hangout with Daehwi and Yoonmi? Of course I do!”
Somi placed her burger back down in the box it came in and dusted her hands off. There was a few moments of silent chewing before she started to speak again.
“Look, guys,” her laugh was amused as if she couldn’t believe that people thought they don’t spend time together, “Daehwi, Yoonmi, and I are the OGs. We were all in the same elementary and middle school growing up before those two went to a different high school. Of course we still hangout. It’s not as much as before, but we do make the most of when we can.”
She sighed as she shooed Zorro away from her food. “Guys, when you grow older, you make new friends and dynamics change, but it’s up to you guys to keep your friendship alive. Yoonmi and Daehwi are still my close friends, but the three of us have an understanding that we have other friends we may be closer to as well. That doesn’t mean we aren’t friends anymore.”
With that, she popped some fries in her mouth. A phone rang somewhere, so she moved off screen for a bit. Her laugh could be heard as she walked back into frame and held up her phone. The name “Kpop Royalty #1” displayed on the screen.
“Hey,” Yoonmi’s voice came from the speakers as soon as Somi picked up, “Som, why are you going through emo hours?”
“Dude, you’re watching my live?”
“So is Hwi. Someone isn’t checking the group chat.”
“I’ll check it after this live,” Somi reassured the younger 01 liner.
“Alright,” Yoonmi laughed. “Talk to you later! XOXO!”
School Life with Idols || Youtube Video
Hyejeong laughed as she recalled the story of the haunted house.
“I remember the reason why it was just Donghyuck, Jeno, and Mark sunbaenim. It’s because Yoonmi couldn’t handle the haunted house. She went off with Daehwi that day, and, unfortunately, an incident happened.”
Seungjun nodded solemnly. “Right, I remember that.”
“It’s such a shame that it happened to her, too,” Hyejeong leaned forward a little. “Yoonmi and I weren’t that close since she did miss a lot of classes for her tours, and she spent most of her time in class with Donghyuck or Daehwi because she was shy. But she was genuinely really sweet and kind. She helped us all with school work when we struggled. She was really smart, especially considering she skipped first year, and she’d bring us little souvenirs all the time. I genuinely think she is an angel in a human body. Actually, she even looks like an angel, even when we were younger.”
“Do you keep in contact with her?”
Hyejeong nodded excitedly. “I do, actually. She still messages in our class group chat every now and then, and, when any of us have our own projects or covers released, she always messages us support and praises. Of course, this is why she is popular.”

Kim Namjoon
It was a few days after Christmas when Namjoon found himself being called to Bang PD’s office. He didn’t know much, all he knew was that there was another potential member to the hip hop group they had been planning. A young one. That’s why he wasn’t surprised when he saw a young boy sitting in the office once he arrived. He was surprised, however, to see a little girl next to him.
She looked like a tiny doll with her big eyes and a probably small frame draped in a quite big hoodie. Was this a little sister perhaps? Was this kid babysitting? Or could it be possible that these two are all each other have? That would be quite sad.
“Namjoon,” Bang PD greeted with a smile, the trainee bowing in response, “I’m sure you know why you’re here.”
“A new recruit, right?”
“Exactly. Namjoon, meet Kim Yoonmi, our newest trainee. I trust you to take care of her, she’s just 10.”
Namjoon followed Bang PD’s admittedly fond gaze towards the little girl who seemed to shrink back into the young boy’s hold. Unknowingly, the rapper narrowed his eyes in slight scrutiny. How could he not when the producer who had promised him a hip hop group was handing him an 10-year-old girl who, by the looks of the designer shoes she wore along with the designer bag by her side, was probably some chaebol kid.
“Sir,” Namjoon nearly laughed out in disbelief, “are you sure? Isn’t she a little young and, well, high status?”
“Excuse me,” the young boy next to her was frowning, clearly offended in her place, “have you perhaps heard her before?”
“No.”
“Have you listened to anything she’s produced?”
“Why would I listen to some amateur 10-year-old’s work?”
The boy gave a tight-lipped smile, clearly annoyed. “Then don’t judge her music if you haven’t heard it then. Unless you’re okay with me saying I don’t like your music because of the way you’re dressed?”
Namjoon raised his eyebrow at the boy, ready to fight. Who was he to talk back to an older person like that?
Bang PD was quick to stand and move Namjoon over to his side of the desk. “Give it a listen, Namjoon. I think you’ll like it.”
The trainee simply rolled his eyes as he watched the boy talk to her in hushed tones, lightly rubbing her back. He watched the young boy pull her hood over her head and tap her nose, making the little girl break into a small smile as Bang PD pressed play on the track. The production of it had Namjoon taken back. It was a good listen, catchy and a little mature. A little rough, here and there, but otherwise a clean listen and production.
“This is one of the ones Chan didn’t help her on,” Bang PD gestured towards the two kids. “Pretty good, huh? She could get a lot better if you and Yoongi take her under your wing, like Hoseok did. She can rap, too, but she’s insecure about it because of her voice, so take it easy on her. Try and get her used to the Seoul dialect, yeah? And to speaking straight Korean.”
Namjoon simply looked at the girl in question. He approached her, making her eyes widen as she pulled the hood further down her face. The young boy he now knew as Chan didn’t take his eyes off of the elder as Namjoon gave Yoonmi a once-over.
“That was pretty good,” the trainee admitted, “I’ll have to get used to you, and you’ve got a way to go. Yoonmi, yes?”
A shy nod was all he got in response, making him notice she was a lot quieter than his own sister.
“Well, Yoonmi, I guess what I can say is welcome to Bighit.” He reached a hand out for her to shake, surprising him when a much smaller hand gripped his and shook it.
Bang PD chose that moment to speak again. “She’s dorming with you three, by the way.”
“What?”
Min Yoongi
Yoongi trudged his way up the stairs to their dorm. Going home was a lot quieter when Hoseok wasn’t there. Just as he was starting to get used to the younger, too. Now the Gwangju-born boy was on a short trip back home, and Yoongi’s other roommate was nowhere to be found all day. As grateful as he was for the silence, Yoongi found himself feeling the slightest bit awkward having to talk to the other trainees without the two by his side.
“Namjoon-ah,” Yoongi called out into the dorm as he went in, “I’m back. I ordered chicken, but I accidentally forgot Hoseok wasn’t here so— Who’s that?”
Yoongi cut himself off upon seeing a little girl sitting in their living room with impeccable posture while Namjoon was going over a list with her. There was no way this was Namjoon’s little sister. This looked like a kid, and he was sure Namjoon’s sister was a teenager.
“Hyung,” the younger boy leaned back a little, “this is Kim Yoonmi. She’ll be staying with us from now on.”
Yoongi scoffed. “What, is Bang making us a daycare center to earn extra money?”
“Actually,” an awkward smile made its way onto the younger boy’s face, “she’s our new recruit. You know, for the hip hop group.”
“You must be kidding me?”
The elder let out a humorless laugh while he took a look at the little girl who shrunk back into the couch while lightly tugging at her hair. A kid? They were bringing in a kid? What good could a kid be? Especially a little girl who looked like she had no backbone.
“A kid, Namjoon?”
“Hyung, she’s actually pretty good. I can say she’s a lot better than I was at ten-yea—“ Namjoon couldn’t finish his sentence.
“Are you hearing yourself?” All Yoongi could do was give a pointed look to Namjoon. Was he brainwashed by the company?
“I’ve been talking to her all day, hyung,” Namjoon reasoned. “I’ve read a few of her lyrics, and I’ve listened to a bunch of her tracks. Hyung, she has potential.”
Yoongi could only shake his head. “What are you, a casting director? Namjoon, that’s a child. A little girl! What are we gonna do with a little girl?”
“If you’d just listen to her tracks—“
“I don’t have time for this bullshit,” he let out a grave sigh and looked at Yoonmi. “Stay out of my way, okay?”
With that, he walked into their bedroom and dumped himself into his bed. A blur of thoughts went through his head as he threw a his arm over his face. There was silence through the thin walls meaning that the two in the living room were silent. Yoongi snorted. If they knew what was good for them, they’d stay silent.
That’s when he heard it. It was faint, but he heard the smallest voice through the walls just loud enough for him to understand what she was saying.
“Yoongi sunbaenim doesn’t like me, does he?”
“He’ll come around once he hears what you’ve got.”
“You don’t like me, either.”
“It’s not that I don’t like you, I’ll just take a while to get used to you. Speaking of a while, it’s been a day since your transfer. Shouldn’t we tell your parents?”
There was a silence after that, one all too familiar to Yoongi. He frowned a little as he sat up. Why was the kid staying silent for so long? Too long.
“I… We don’t have to tell them. It’s fine. May I go to the company for a little while? I’ll just come back when Yoongi sunbaenim falls asleep.”
“Sure. I might as well show you around the company before your first day.”
Yoongi stayed silent until he heard the door shut. He shook his head. The hesitation probably meant nothing. He shouldn’t think too much about a little kid who probably wouldn’t last long, anyway.
A flash of light caught his eye, making him turn his head only to find himself looking at the logo of a luxurious branded bag. He smirked.
“She definitely won’t last here.”
Jung Hoseok
To say Hoseok was excited to be coming back to the dorms was an understatement. Sure, he missed his family, and sure he loved being home, but there was something about the dorm and the company that made him feel excited to go back. He came back in the middle of the day, of course, so Namjoon and Yoongi weren’t home.
He didn’t think there’d be anyone else there, which was why he was surprised when he saw another one of the bunks in their room occupied. Well, not occupied by a person. There were sheets there with a towel laid out like a blanket as well as a small plushie.
“Well,” he laughed to himself as he walked closer and picked the toy up, “it looks like we might have a new maknae.”
The front door opened, making him perk up and check his phone while setting the plushie back down on the bed. Lunch time on a Friday? They usually got food in the convenience store near the company for lunch. He shook his head, at least he could see the two of them a little earlier. They probably had the newbie with them as well. Excitedly, he shrugged off his jacket and raced out to the living room.
“Guys, I’m back!”
“We could tell,” Namjoon laughed and pointed to the ground. “Your shoes are here.”
Hoseok looked at him confused. He said “we,” but there was only him there. “Where’s Yoongi hyung?”
“Back at the company,” Namjoon stepped a little to the side revealing a little girl who had hid behind him earlier, “I just brought this kid home so we could eat seaweed soup for her birthday. She didn’t get to do it on her actual birthday, so I thought why not?.”
“A kid?” Hoseok’s questioning look made the other laugh.
“Yeah,” the taller boy bent a little to talk to the girl, “he’s really nice, don’t worry. Hoseok, this is Kim Yoonmi, our newest recruit for the hip hop group. Yoonmi, that’s Jung Hoseok, our resident dance genius.”
“Yah,” the Gwangju boy excitedly clapped his hands and knelt in front of her, “she looks like a little doll! Hi, Yoonmi!”
“Hi, sunbaenim,” the young girl bowed a little shyly, seemingly unfamiliar with the friendly greeting that was different from all the disapproving looks she had gotten from the other trainees.
Hoseok practically melted when he heard her voice. “What sunbaenim? Call me oppa. I’ll be your Hoseok oppa, okay? I’ve always wanted a little sister!”
The way she nervously glanced at Namjoon made Hoseok a little upset. He was nearly 100% sure that she was probably not used to being greeted friendly by all the other trainees who they were working with so far. This was too much for a kid.
While putting on the kindest smile he could muster, he held his hand out for her to take. In response, she hesitantly placed her hand in his. That’s when Hoseok pulled her into a hug.
“Welcome to the group, Yoonmi,” the feeling of her tense shoulders relaxing in his hold made him feel accomplished. He pulled back, resting his hands on her shoulders and looking her in the eye. “Did I hear Namjoon right? It’s your birthday?”
A shy nod was all she gave in response.
“How old are you?”
“I’m nine.”
“You’re ten, kid,” Namjoon lightly patted her shoulder. “You’ve been in Korea for over half a year now, you’re gonna need to get used to the Korean age system. And it’s not her birthday today. It was her birthday two weeks ago.”
“Right,” she nodded, “I’m ten. I’m ten now. Namjoon sunbaenim is teaching me more Korean culture, that’s why he ordered me seaweed soup today.”
Hoseok grinned. “Your satoori is adorable. Wait one second.”
Hoseok lightly pulled her into the living room then rushed to his bag in the bedroom. He took out something that he had picked up from home then went right back to the living room.
“I hope you like meat because my mom sent me home with a ton of different types of marinated meat. Let me cook some for you.”
Jeon Jungkook
Jungkook was a little beyond embarrassed.
Aside from his… interesting introduction to the rapper who influenced him to join Bighit, Jungkook found himself being caught every time he zoned out during the tour around the company.
It’s not like he meant to be disrespectful, it’s just that everything seemed so new to him, and he was only then processing that he opened himself to a new life of practicing to be able to perform on stage. Honestly, it was a lot to take in.
“Hey, kid,” Namjoon called his attention, “don’t get too surprised when you meet the other trainees, okay? There’s quite an age gap between you and our second—now third— youngest. There’s also our actual youngest…”
Jungkook could feel his eyes light up. “I’m gonna have a younger friend? Like someone I can make my little brother?”
“Not quite,” Namjoon chuckled as he opened the door.
His eyes widened as Namjoon introduced him to each of the other trainees present there at the time. About towards the end of the room, long black hair caught his eye. He shifted his gaze over to double check and was surprised with what he saw.
“There’s a girl here?” he asked while looking at the girl who was half-standing behind another trainee who Jungkook was yet to be informed the name of.
“Yes,” Namjoon confirmed. “That’s Yoonmi. She raps, produces, and she’s making her way to being one of the best dancers here. And that last guy is Yoongi hyung. He’s the eldest, and he’s one of our best rappers. Guys, this is Jungkook. He’s from Busan, so he has a bit of an accent.”
Yoonmi. She made him curious. Jungkook approached her, eyes widening in fascination and curiosity as to why a girl was with the guy trainees. How different was she from the girl trainees, and what made her fit in with the guys?
“You can rap?” he asked the her. Yoongi’s narrowed eyes at him felt like they could burn a hole through his skin. Was it so bad to ask if the girl could actually rap? He just found it interesting because girls who look like Yoonmi’s age aren’t really into that kind of thing.
“I do rap,” she mumbled back. at him.
The new boy’s eyes lit up as he heard her speak. A familiar accent hit his ears, though a little bit thrown off from what he guessed was long amounts of time not speaking Korean, Jungkook was 100% sure that this was his native accent.
“Your satoori!” he grinned, excited that he found someone from his province. “You’re from Busan, too!”
“I am,” she nodded at him. “Are you from Busan, too?”
“Born and raised there my whole life,” he smiled as he stuck his hand out for her. “I’m Jeon Jungkook, and I’m 15 this year.”
She gingerly took her hand out of Yoongi’s and shook Jungkook’s hand. “I’m Kim Yoonmi, and I’m 11, I guess.”
The two new maknaes missed the way the older trainees were watching them with fond and amused (or, in Yoongi’s case, wary) looks on their faces. This was probably the first time Yoonmi was meeting another Bighit trainee that’s less than seven years older than her.
While Yoonmi was a little confused, Jungkook was ecstatic. He wouldn’t be the youngest anymore, meaning he could both take care of someone and also ask them to do stuff for him like his older brother would do. That is until he realized…
“Does that make me an oppa?”
Kim Seokjin
Seokjin was still a little nervous when he first came to the practice room. Everything still seemed so unreal to him. An idol trainee… That was his new role. He never expected it, and yet there he was about to enter the place where he’d meet the people he would possibly end up spending a lot of time with sooner or later.
He expected a mess, honestly. Yelling, music blaring, outer clothes everywhere, a ton of backpacks or hats scattered maybe. A bunch of guys in their youth learning a bunch of stuff together despite being total strangers at first? That sounded like a recipe for disaster. What he didn’t expect was opening the door and seeing a nearly spotless practice room with someone who looked like another trainee explaining something to a little girl in a school uniform.
The mentioned girl’s eyes met his and immediately widened as she moved to hide behind the boy’s form. With how focused the boy was, Seokjin was sure that the boy would have not noticed his arrival if it weren’t for the girl’s grip.
“Oh,” the boy set the pencil down and stood up, walking towards Seokjin, “hi. You must be the new guy. I’m Kim Namjoon, and this is Kim Yoonmi.”
“Kim Seokjin,” he looked at the pair curiously while shaking Namjoon’s hand. “Is this your little sister or something?”
“Might wanna have a little respect there,” Namjoon chuckled, “she’s been a trainee here for a few months now.”
The shock he felt was immense. The young girl, Yoonmi, as he recalled, looked to still be a child. What was someone as young as her doing in a place like this? Was she really undergoing the same training that’s rumored to be intense enough to break people either physically or mentally?
“Say hi, kid,” Namjoon stepped to the side to further reveal the young girl.
“Hi, Seokjin-ssi. I’ll go call the other oppas.” With that, she slipped on her slides and ran off in the direction which he presumed was where all the other trainees were lounging. Seokjin took a glance around, gaze landing on the significantly smaller shoes next to his feet then to the pink and purple backpack in the living room.
“This is crazy,” he muttered to himself.
“You’ll get used to it,” Namjoon patted his shoulder, “she tends to grow on you. Even some of the colder hyungs are getting fond of her.”
The elder shook his head in confusion as he followed the senior trainee into the room. “Someone as young as her is already training here?”
“She is part of our tentative debut team now, and becoming an important one at that.” The younger trainee slightly hardened his gaze as he turned back towards Seokjin. “You, on the other hand, are simply a new trainee. You’ve got to earn your spot
Seokjin just couldn’t get a grasp of the situation. Especially not when a group of boys walk in, Yoonmi hiding behind one of them who seemed like he had never seen the sun. It looked strange to him. There were these boys, mostly dressed in hip hop style, and they were training with the same uniform-clad little girl he was looking at?
“There aren’t other girl trainees in this company?” he asked.
“Oh there are,” Namjoon laughed, “but she just happens to be training with us. Is that a problem?”
One look at her big doll-like eyes, and Seokjin knew his answer.
“Not at all.”
Kim Taehyung
Taehyung shrugged off his jacket as he went through his clothes. He needed to look for suitable ones for his first day of training, and he didn’t want to make a bad impression on those he’d be training with.
While picking out clothes, though, he found his gaze drifting to one particular bunk that seemed to be a little different from the others. There were little photos stuck on the wall with what looked like glittery arts and crafts tape, as well as a few notes written in English. Cursive, too.
“Looks like we’ve got a foreigner here,” he mumbled to himself, “I should brush up on my English skills.”
Right as he said those words, he heard the front door open and a few footsteps. He also heard two voices, one catching him by surprise.
“Thank you, again,” a feminine voice spoke in what seemed like heavily accented English, “My lola was worried no one would come.”
“Trust me, some of the others would have come, too, if they could,” an older male voice replied. “Go and get changed out of your uniform, we’ve got training to do.”
“Already on it, oppa…”
Taehyung’s jaw dropped the moment he saw a little girl walk into the bedroom. He broke into a grin, her doll-like features and small frame making his insides melt with how cute she was. The little girl let out a squeak and ran back out of the room, almost immediately being replaced by a tall and slightly frantic guy.
Taehyung smiled and extended his hand. “Hi, my name is Kim Taehyung, and I’m the new trainee here. I was born in 1995, and I’m from Daegu. Nice to meet you.”
“New trainee…” Namjoon trailed off as he shook his hand, “Nice to meet you, too, Taehyung. I didn’t realize you were coming today. I’m Namjoon, and this little one is Yoonmi, our youngest trainee. Yoonmi, say hi to the newbie”
All the Daegu boy could do was coo when Namjoon lightly pulled the girl into the room, only barely managing to get the girl to show half her body from behind her leader. “Look at you! You look like a little doll! Hi, you can call me Taehyung oppa. I have a little sister, too, so I won’t be weird around you if that’s what you’re worried about.”
The little glance she exchanged with Namjoon was admittedly quite unnerving as he waited for her to respond to him in any way possible. Honestly, even if she would be a little closed off at first, he swore on his existence that he’d be able to get close to her and help raise her. Maybe he was projecting how much he missed his siblings and cousins, who knows?
He held his hand out for her to take after a short moment of silence. His smile made its way up to his ears as he watched her place her significantly smaller hand into his.
“Nice to meet you, oppa,” were the words that came out of her mouth. It was just a little louder than a whisper, but Taehyung heard it.
Closing his hand around the younger’s and giving it a tight squeeze, Taehyung knelt down and looked her in the eye. “Can I give you a hug? Please?”
Upon her shy nod, Taehyung let out a little cheer and immediately wrapped his arms around her. He then proceeded to lift her up while standing, making her let out a surprised squeak when she felt her legs hanging in mid-air. The sound of chuckles caught their attention.
“Looks like you’re an energetic one,” Namjoon patted Taehyung on the shoulder. “I think she and Jungkook will need that. You might want to set her down so she can change. We still have training to go to, and I have to introduce you to everyone else.”
“Got it!”
With that, the 95 liner set the 01 liner in his arms down and ruffled her hair before watching her grab some clothes laid under her pillow and run to the bathroom.
“Are there more little trainees?” the question came out a little hard to understand with how excited he was.
“A little,” Namjoon scratched the back of his neck, “but she’s our youngest right now, even if you combine us with the girl trainees.”
The Daegu boy smiled to himself. Looks like he’d find not just friends and hyungs, but also little friends to take care of.
Park Jimin
Jimin took deep breaths as he walked towards the practice room. He had already dropped off his stuff at the dorm he’d be staying in, but no one was there. Naturally, anyone would assume that everyone was in training considering it was the middle of the day, but he was wrong. The nice lady at the reception table told him that all the trainees were out for lunch. Some just eating amd some probably escaping to the Han River.
This was a good thing for Jimin. This means the practice room would be empty for him to work a little more on his hip hop before actually getting thrown in with people who have had years of training in only that genre.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t dance hip hop, it’s just that he felt maybe he might be behind since, compared to the trainees who only learn hip hop or street or urban dance, Jimin spent his time divided on drastically different styles. He liked to think of himself as a jack or all trades, master of none. He might as well get started with at least warm ups and basics before the others get back.
To his surprise though, there was music coming from the practice room, which is why he was trying to prepare himself for whoever sunbae would be there, idol or trainee. Honestly, he wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but a little girl in a big shirt and leggings doing what looks like either self-made or freestyle choreography to Big Bang? He wasn’t expecting that at all.
“Hi,” he bowed a little in greeting. She may look younger than him, but she was still probably his sunbae. “I’m sorry to disturb you, but I’m new here. Is this the male trainees’ practice room?”
The girl abruptly moved to the laptop in front of her and pressed paused before bowing back to him and speaking somewhat softly.
“Yes, actually. No need to worry, um…”
“Jimin,” he filled in for her when he trailed off. “My name’s Park Jimin.”
“Welcome to Bighit, Jimin-ssi,” she bowed once again. “I’m Kim Yoonmi. Um, I guess you could say I’m the company’s maknae and I’m in the debut lineup.”
Jimin looked at her in confusion. “Nice to meet you, Yoonmi-ssi, but debut lineup? You mean for Glam?”
Yoonmi shook her head, which confused Jimin. Bighit certainly wouldn’t be planning another girl group right after debuting Glam, would they? Wait, scratch that. The girl in front of him bary looks 10 years old, were they going to debut someone that young? And, if his mind went in the right direction, in a hip hop boy group? Isn’t that not a thing? Shouldn’t she be doing cute concepts at most at her age?
“I guess you’re confused,” she offered him a bottle of water while gesturing to sit on the floor, to which he obliged. “Most new recruits are. Is it because I’m 12? Or is it because I’m a girl?”
“I guess both,” he agreed as he took a sip of water. “I didn’t think any company would debut a girl as young as you in a hip hop group. Especially when you, forgive me for this, look like a doll.”
“I get that a lot,” she shrugged, “but this is what I’ve been learning about since I was six, so this is where I’m most comfortable and, I guess to Sihyuk oppa, where I’m most compatible.”
Jimin nodded.
Once more, the Busan boy looked over her. She wasn’t dressed like how most girls with her looks would dress, but she wasn’t exactly trying to look boyish, either. She even had little beaded bracelets and a few thread bracelets that looked hand made on her wrists. Her neat ponytail was decorated with a big white and pastel pink bow, which certainly didn’t say “hip hop”. He found it strange. The girls he onew that did hip hop would dress up in messy hairstyles and clothes taken straight from the men’s department store.
The staring must have made her uncomfortable since she started tugging at her ponytail a little. “Would you like to run through some hip hop drills with me before the others get back? Hoseok oppa said he wants me to polish my basics again.”
“Sure,” he got up and followed after her as she played music once again, “by the way, are you from Busan?”
She looked at him in shock. “I am! How did you know?”

“Where is my studio?”
Yoonmi dragged her luggage bag with some of the items she’d be storing in her studio behind her. It was quite the sight considering it looked like she could fit inside that luggage with space to spare. It was her first time visiting the new building, so she still didn’t know her way around. Maybe she should have waited for Namjoon.
“Oh!” A familiar figure appeared as she turned the corner. “Samchon! Hyunnie samchon!”
She approached the elder with a smile. He opened his free arm for a hug, which she obliged. He ruffled her hair a little before letting go of her.
“You lost, maknae?”
The nickname made her smile. Despite her not being the youngest in the company anymore, Lee Hyun never stopped calling her maknae.
“A little, yeah. I have no idea where my studio is.”
“Neither do I.”
Yoonmi perked up. “I saw your studio! It’s back dow this hall then turn right.”
“Well aren’t you lucky?” The elder pinched her cheek. “Yours is at the other end of this hallway near the other Bangtan kids’ studios.”
She glanced down the hall and indeed saw the sign that she had outside her previous studio hanging on a wall beside a door. She thanked Lee Hyun and began to make her way there.
“As soon as I finish here, I’ll pick you up, okay?” The elder’s voice carried after her. “Let’s have dinner in the cafeteria!”
“Okay!”
“Yoongi oppa, can you come over to my studio for a bit— Oh, hi Gyu!”
“Aigoo, Yoonmi-ah,” Beomgyu laughed at her and gestured for her to come in. “Do you still not know your way around?”
She rolled her eyes at him as she sat beside him. “I saw your live with Soobin oppa. You don’t know your way around either.”
Beomgyu pretended to throw a tantrum at her which made her laugh. He turned away and crossed his arms before turning all his attention back to his live and ignoring her.
“Are you really doing this right now?” Her laughter was loud. “You started it!”
“But you continued it!”
“Oh my god.”
The two ended up laughing at each other. She apologized quickly to the live for them having to witness the two 01 liners. Beomgyu then decided to read out some questions that MOAs were asking Yoonmi until he eventually just left her to it. She leaned forward a little and laughed when she saw the comments rushing by.
“All they’re asking me is if I’m helping work on your next album!”
“To be fair,” Beomgyu shrugged, “you did work on all our albums. And most of the songs on Minisode.”
“Well, I’m under an NDA regarding anything involving production in this company, so I can’t say anything.”
“You guys heard her.”
A knock on the door caught their attention. The two kids looked towards the door which opened to reveal Yoongi. He smiled at them.
“Heard you were looking for me, Princess.”
She stood and gave Yoongi a hug. “How’d you know I was here?”
“Beomgyu texted.”
Yoongi’s words made Yoonmi turn to Beomgyu who laughed.
“I thought you’d need help getting back,” he reasoned.
She scrunched her nose at him but laughed anyway. “When you’re done, wanna come hear what I’m working on?”
“Of course he does,” Yoongi chuckled. “You’re his bias!”
“Hyung!”
But just like that, Yoonmi and Beomgyu said bye while Beomgyu ended the live, and they followed Yoongi back to Yoonmi’s studio.
It was not a good day for Yoonmi. All she wanted to do was go to the Bangtan dance studio and brush up on her skills, but she forgot what floor she was on. Cautiously, she entered the room to see people dancing. But they weren’t her members.
She turned to the side, hitting her head on the wall. “I give up!”
“You lost again, Yoonmi?” Minhyun asked her with a chuckle.
“Maybe just a little.”
Jonghyun came over and gave her a smile. “How about I take you back to your floor?”
She gave him a sheepish smile, guilty that she had disrupted their practice. Minhyun saw this and patted her head.
“Lighten up,” he told her, “I assure you you’re not at fault here. It’s a big building, and we all lose our bearings here.”
“We needed the break anyway!” Minki’s voice called from where the other members were drinking water. She laughed at that.
Honestly, of all the groups she could walk in on, she was grateful it was Nu’est. She wasn’t really close to most of the Seventeen members, and she didn’t want to trouble the Gfriend girls who often got as lost as she did. The TXT kids probably would have teased her, and Enhypen look up to her, so that would be embarrassing. Nu’est, however, were her friends, and they were very caring. They also had the least amount of members to witness her struggle.
“How about this,” she began, “how about we all go for lunch in the cafeteria then I can just go with you guys back down until I reach my floor, which I’m pretty sure is closer to the cafeteria than yours.”
Jonghyun laughed. “You’re making this less embarrassing for you, huh?”
“Is it that obvious?”
The Nu’est boys laughed, but relented. Who were they to deny the original princess of the company?
