Had one of my students in for a platter session this morning. Found myself a nice Ash blank to turn. Sourced this one from @bigmonklumber some time last year. Shouldn’t have waited so long to work it. Sanded to 220 grit, then @mylandsfinishes sanding sealer, @yorkshiregrit Original abrasive paste and @hampshiresheen High Gloss Wax. Had a student earlier and decided to finish my demo piece. Really pretty, happy that I could keep the void without losing my fingers. Hello, After joining a Detroit turning club zoom meeting i decided to do a youtube live & turn a bowl. This wood is Cyprus, it was grown in South Australia. ( i live in Sth AU)I left this bowl rather thick as it has loads of cracks & i didn't want it to explode on me. No CA/supa glue.Burnt two rings in the top & i used wooden ice cream stick to make the burn mark.I used Yorkshire grit & a walnut shine juice i make.
