Snily Childhood
severus and lily playing dare or truth games during their school summer holiday times (by the way, they’re in second almost third years semester)
how their conversation went on before they’re take their dare :
lily: "sev, i dare you to kiss it!"
severus: "no way lily! you do it yourself."
lily: "then, let's do it together."
severus: no, i don’t want it lily. its not appropriate—
lily: "chill out, sev. come on, it’ll be fine don’t worry about it."
severus: "ok whatever, let we fucking go dare then! this is your idea lily, not mine."
lily: alright, i doing first and then you sev. you okay with it?
severus: merlin beard, lily. of course let’s go then!
Why do people get so offended with fics that hv lily copying from Snape in potions instead of having the innate ability to do it herself?(hear me out)
Obvs, its annoying when its used to show lily as satan reincarnate against poor uwu sev, but imo there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea itself. Because we get absolutely no evidence from the source material attributing to her abilities apart from Slughorn's word. For example, we get evidence of james being skilled at transfiguration because he literally turned into an animagus at 15 (smthng Mcgonagall needed Dumbledore's help for) and even helped a fellow student do the same (albeit with Sirius). Ollivander also says in book 1 that his wand was good for transfiguration (actually, he also says that lily's wand was great for charms, but this is either forgotten or massively slept on by both the fandom and the source material itself). We get nothing of this sort about lily's supposed prowess in potions. In fact, Slughorn keeps saying that Harry's inherited his mother's abilities literally every single time he follows the Prince's instructions, which honestly makes me see this as the more plausible option.
Now obvs, there is the possibility that snape could have taken lily's work, but imo this is highly unlikely as we do hv evidence of him being good at the subject (brewing wolfsbane, becoming the potions professor only a few yrs after graduating, theatrics on the subject in his very first class with 11 y/os, etc. Also I don't think someone who names himself 'the halfblood prince' would be very ok with just copying from someone, snape is too proud for that).
This isn't canon ofc. They could have helped each other, had their own individual abilities, or whatever, but i just don't see why this possibility should be frowned upon so much. Maybe he was just helping her as a friend. Or maybe she was profiting off of him ( imo that would be an improvement to the perfect godlike figure we get in canon, and even so she wouldn't be half as flawed as the others in tht generation). Even if she did, it wouldn't mean she's stupid or incompetent overall, she was probably just bad at one subject and got help for it/ conveniently used the most easily available resource. Who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Fateful Meeting
(Severus Snape x Winifred Plotsky / A bit of Lily Evans x Winifred Plotsky)
Winifred "Winnie" Plotsky was the newest Hufflepuff student to have joined Hogwarts and her little heart was already slamming in her chest every time she stepped out of her dorm room. Being a muggleborn, since both of her parents were non-magicals born from previously disowned squib lines, had put her in an unfortunate position. Especially as her parents were very much aware of their families as her great, great grandparents were determined to strengthen the magic in their lines so, Winnie knew many of her pureblood cousins. And in the wake of the war that's been going it's not hard to guess the treatment that she would find for not only not joining either Slytherin or Ravenclaw, but also for her blood status. It was what her family had warned her about adamantly yet there was nothing she could do as the Hat had told her "You may be fairly suited for it but I assure you that this House is better for everyone. You'll understand one day"--whatever that meant. All of this info put together then Winnie, while rushing to her first class not even a week into her time at school, isn't surprised to have been tripped. What was surprising was that she found herself falling into two figures before faceplanting, all of the supplies in her arms flying away from her.
"Oh my goodness! Are you okay?"
Winnie's head shot up at the voice and she regrets looking up because her face felt like molten lava, probably glowed just as bright. However, her embarrassment is forgotten by the shock of red hair and the seemingly emerald green eyes that stared down at her in concern.
"Oh wow...," Winnie finds herself whispering in wonder. Someone being a walking beacon of light was something that she didn't expect to see here. No matter how amazing magic was, Winnie had little belief that there were angels, but now she was feeling very different. The first year fumbles as she continues, "Uh... Yes, I'm alright. I--"
A shocked yelp escape her when a hand suddenly hooks under her arm and she was swept back up onto her feet. Winnie's eyes, once a cinnamon brown now a dark green, flick to the now looming figure who helped her up. The previous heat seemed to of doubled as she looked at this new figure. A slim boy in all black beyond the Slytherin green adornments that each uniform gets when sorted into said house.
"Don't lay on the floor in the middle of the hallway. It's too early in the day to be causing a scene," this new figure sneered.
He's the complete opposite of the girl he was walking alongside. His long face is framed by inky black hair in small waves to barely rest on his shoulders. Winnie finds herself drawn to his eyes, just as dark as his hair, before traveling down to his protruding hooked nose that was crooked at the bridge. She briefly wondered if it was from a past injury that hadn't healed right like her ring finger on her right hand, but is then distracted by his lips. They are thin and pulled into an annoyed frown, however, the right corner was discolored like he'd just chewed on it earlier. Was it a tick he'd developed like when she started picking at her arms or was this just a one time event? Winnie put that info away later since the beautiful girl from earlier speaks up once more.
"Severus, be careful! Look how small she is," the copper haired girl in Gryffindor reds reprimands him. "She's the smallest first year I've ever seen. You'll break something on accident if you aren't careful."
Tall-broody-and-mysterious, now revealed to Winnie to be Severus, scoffs as if the idea is ridiculous but as he locked eyes with Winnie there seems to be a moment of consideration. Having so much attention on her sends her eyes to the floor and her hands into gripping the ends of her robes. The overpriced fabric a reminder that she was a walking disappointment from her status to her interactions.
"Here you go. And you're sure you're alright...," the redhead prompts Winnie.
The now brown eyed girl quickly takes the que and answers, "I'm, uh, Winifred. Winifred Plotsky, but you can call me Winnie if you like. I-It's nice to meet you."
"Lily Evans and this is my best friend, Severus Snape. It's indeed a pleasure to meet you, right Sev?"
"Hmm, quite," Severus grumbles. "Would you kindly take your things now, Miss Plotsky."
Winnie turns back to find that all of her previously thrown about supplies are in a neat bundle held out to her. She blinks for a moment at this nice gesture and wordlessly takes her stuff back. This leads to Severus clearing his throat in a purposeful manner, like he was trying to stamp down a comment or to cover up another sound of distaste. It's something that sparks a strange feeling in her little heart. She was used to being pushed aside and ignored or even possibly being punished for drawing attention to herself. To have someone take the time to help her out and touch her without causing pain was... new. Amazing even.
"Th-Thank you!"
"We are going to find ourselves late to class if we don't hurry along, Lily. We'll be seeing you, Plotsky," Severus says with a half-hearted nod.
"Oh alright, stay safe, Winnie. See you around, okay," Lily pipes up quickly before following Severus along to whatever class they have.
Despite Severus' warning about classes starting Winnie stands unmoving in the hallway just watching them disappear in the distance. She can't even bring herself to blink as she watches them go because those are the only people that have treated her so well since school started. Once again, being related to so many blood supremacists and heavy traditionalists puts many people off from trying to make friends with you. That doesn't damper the now bright elation that's now filled her heart. Friends. New friends! Lily and Severus!
"Yeah... see you around."
Winnie giggles and further down the hall a small shiver runs up Severus' back. He's not sure why but he feels like there's something terrible on the horizon.
